Sage Against The Machine Episode 42 - Totally Biased

It's election season here on the reservation, and many people have opinions about leadership and change and things like that, and our guest has thrown his name into the running for the position of sub chief of the Saint Regis Tribal Council Dr Sarah Konwahahawi Herne, one of the hosts of our sister podcast Womens Dance joins the conversation and helps shine a light on politics and some of the biggest issues facing us. Trent David spent some time with us last year in the midst of the land claim controversy surrounding our community, and following that episode, our good friend direct actioned himself to a bench at the Akwesasne Casino in protest. Now, once again, he's attempting to make change and do things a bit differently.  He's running for the tribal council and he'll tell us all about it on this episode of Sage Against the Machine Podcast.

The Aboriginal Outlaws Present: Adirondacker

Getting artistic with the Aboriginal Outlaws this week as we invite artist, speaker, and teacher Dave Kanietakeron Fadden @davefadden into the podcast Studio for little one-on-one time. Kanientakeron is a fine artist from Akwesasne who puts the love of his people and culture into each and every piece. He also runs the Six Nations Iroquois Cultural Center located in the Adirondacks in Onchiota New York. He has a legacy in our community spanning all the way back to the days of his grandfather, and Carries that flame of desire to share cultural teachings, knowledge and stories with the coming Generations. We have a great chat be warned at this episode has a bit of a video stuttering it as well if you're watching it on YouTube we're trying to tackle the issue here at the studio. Get it today on YouTube or listen in audio on Spotify, iTunes Amazon music or wherever you get your podcasting on.   #sixnationsiroquois #aboriginaloutlaws #haudenosaunee #indigenousarts

The Aboriginal Outlaws Present: Kickboxer

Kicking ass with The Aboriginal Outlaws!   This week we welcome Secora Oakes, kickboxing fighter and trainer as she promotes her upcoming very first competition fight.   Secora trains hard, and teaches at Undefeated MMA in Cornwall Ontario, and we're grateful she's willing to share her adventure with us all. We're also joined by her emotional support human Kanietahare to hold her pads as she tees off with the thunder. If you're in the area get your tickets today the fight takes place on May 30th at the  Cornwall Civic complex.  We have a glitch in this episode, and we do apologize, but we can't we re-record and we don't want to to lose this wonderful conversation. Our video will get glitchy about 15 minutes in but the audio is fine we recommend powering through and watching our faces freeze or listening to the purely audio feed.  #akwesasne #kickboxing #mma #indigenouswomen
