The Absolute Gentleman
When Keogh was 38 years old, his life took a turn for the worse. In the space of a year, he had lost his fiancée, his reputation and the next 20 years of his life to the Australian prison system. Accused of drowning his fiancée in their bathtub, Keogh was left pleading innocent to the Australian courts while battling with his own grief at her passing. Between 1994 and 2014 Koegh battled with the courts for his freedom, with a team of dedicated followers on his side. Finally, after 20 years in a cell as well as multiple petitions, complaints and appeals, his case was dismissed due to insufficient evidence and Henry Koegh was awarded $2.7 million in compensation and allowed to walk free. Today, he is able to speak freely about the events of his past and the gems that he’s picked up during his time in prison, including life philosophies and strategies for overcoming hardship. Koegh’s story also acts as a cautionary tale for would be lawyers about the weight that their positions can hold over the direction of another’s life, and the importance of correctly sentencing those who are tried before them. He hopes that through educating others, situations such as his can be avoided in the future.
