Descripción

Church Hurt & Spiritual Disappointment — a heavy but hopeful conversation for anyone who’s ever been wounded by the very place that should have felt safest. In this episode, I open up about the deep pain so many carry from church experiences: judgment, exclusion, gossip, feeling you can’t show up as your real, struggling self, and far more serious wounds like betrayal, abuse of power, or violation by trusted leaders and pastors. I share my own regretful moment of unintentionally making a family with young kids feel unwelcome, and the powerful story of taking a heavily tattooed woman from jail to church—watching fear melt into God’s warm welcome.Whether your hurt is “small” or soul-crushing, this episode is for you. We explore: * Who God is and what He intended His Church to be: a family, the Body and Bride of Christ, a place of healing, belonging, truth, and love. * Why the church can disappoint us so deeply: because it’s made of imperfect, still-being-sanctified people just like us. * How to move forward without regret: separating God from His flawed people, honestly naming our pain to Him, entrusting it to the Righteous Judge, and wisely re-engaging with healthy community. God is not the author of your church hurt. He sees you (El Roi), He grieves with you, and He is ready to heal. You’ll hear Scripture that anchors us—Lamentations 3:22-23, Psalm 27:10, Hebrews 10:24-25, and more—plus a closing prayer, a gentle “Safe Inventory” to journal through, and discussion questions for groups or personal reflection. If you’ve been hurt by the church, this episode is a safe space to begin processing, release bitterness, and take one small step toward trust and belonging again. You are not alone, and your story matters to God. Listen now and let the Lord meet you right where you are. Get Curious. Be Certain. Ep.16

"If you died today, how confident are you that you would be in heaven?" 0%? 50/50? 99%? Not sure? If your answer is anything less than 100%, this episode is for you. We start with urgency. In Luke 12, Jesus tells the story of a man who had everything - full barns, big plans, zero worries. God's response? "You fool. Tonight your life is required of you." None of us is promised tomorrow. That question isn't hypothetical - it's the most important one you'll ever answer. But this episode isn't just about eternity. It's about where to begin. I've spent the last decade mentoring women in jail — women who've tried everything to fill the emptiness and came up empty every time. The one thing that changed everything for them (and for me) was learning to approach the Bible not with pressure or performance, but with one simple word: curiosity. Think about how kids engage with the world. They don't approach a new thing with shame about what they don't know. They run toward it. They point. They ask every question. That's exactly how I want you to come to God's Word. In this episode, I teach you a practical five-question framework you can use with any Bible passage: 1. Who wrote this? 2. Who is it written for? 3. Why was it written? 4. What does it mean? 5. How does it apply to my life? Then we practice it together on John 3:16. Thirty-one words. Tattooed on arms, painted at football games, memorized by millions. But have you ever actually been curious about it? When you dig in, those thirty-one words contain a treasure map - and they have your name written all over them. Then we close the loop - all the way back to that opening question - with 1 John 5:11-13. John wasn't writing so you could hope you have eternal life. He wrote so you could know. If you've surrendered your life to Jesus, your answer is 100%. Full stop. Your eternity is not secured by your goodness - it's secured by His. If you're not there yet? You don't need fancy words or a church building. God hears you. God sees you. He knows exactly what your heart needs — and He's been waiting. This episode is for the woman who feels stuck, disqualified, or unsure where to start. It's for the person who's been saying "not yet." Darkness to Light: Who & What Owns You? E.12

In this powerful episode of The Addicted to God Podcast, host Sarah Schneider confronts a challenging but liberating question: Who really owns you right now? Drawing from her decade mentoring women in jail, Sarah reveals how addictions—whether substances, shopping, approval, or success—keep us trapped in darkness. She explores how sin is the root that gives addiction its power, how our fallen nature pulls us toward what destroys us, and how the enemy blinds us to the light of Christ. Using powerful Scriptures like John 3:19-20, Romans 6:23, and John 8:44, Sarah unpacks why we hide in shame, how pride and comfort can blind even the religious, and the sobering reality of the sin nature we all battle. But this episode doesn’t leave you in darkness. It points to real hope: the freedom that comes when we transfer our desperate hunger from the things of this world to the only addiction that truly satisfies—Jesus Christ. If you’re tired of hidden struggles controlling your life, this is your invitation to step into the light.
