Sufferfest Beer CEO Caitlin Landesberg

Caitlin Landesberg discovered she was gluten-intolerant. One of the biggest problems? She couldn’t find a decent gluten-free beer. So she created one herself. Today, Landesberg is founder and CEO of Sufferfest Beer Company [http://sufferfestbeer.com/], which specializes in gluten-removed beers and craft beer for athletes like herself.  Landsberg previously worked at Strava, and she wanted to cater to people who love beer, and care about what they put in their bodies. To reach this group, they launched by pouring for 1,200 trail runners at the Way Too Cool 50k trail race, America’s largest 50k trail race, and launched with Epic Pilsner and Taper IPA in 25 select locations across the Bay Area. In this interview, Caitlin talks about being a gluten-free beer pioneer, the evolving beverage market as it starts to the fitness market, Sufferfest's  #WillSweatForBeer ambassadors, her own running goals as a runner and business owner, and much more.

Camille Herron: Chugging beer while smashing records

"Camille Herron drinks beer while shattering 100-mile run world record" That headline caught my attention a year ago.  I clicked on the article and was astonished to learn that this ultra runner averaged 7-minute 38-second miles to break the 100-mile race record by more than an hour.  And she did it while stopping to drink a bottle and a half of Rogue Dead Guy Ale, which was supplied by her husband and coach.  "It was magic," she said. “It settled my stomach and I had mental clarity.” That's just the beginning of Camille's astonishing accomplishments, which includes setting the record for fastest marathon while wearing a superhero costume (2:48) and winning the prestigious Comrades ultramarathon.  At age 37, she's just getting started. She's aiming for more records up to an including a 1,000-mile race and a new coaching camp that she's launching with her husband.  In this episode we talked about her getting sponsored by Rogue Ales, fueling up on Taco Bell, her research on the science of recovery and why she runs twice a day and so much more.  Links: http://www.camilleherron.com https://twitter.com/runcamille
