The Brantley Method
The "More Than Just A Recruiter" Interview Series Season 2, Ep. 4: UNLV Men's Basketball Assistant Coach Carlin Hartman The game of basketball took Carlin Hartman from Western New York (Grand Island) to Tulane where he was a standout player and then afforded him the opportunity to impact other's journeys! For 23 years, Coach Carlin Hartman has been a leader in the coaching industry. He has demonstrated success along his journey mentoring 8 players who would later go on to play in the NBA. During his career he's not only worked with High Major ball players, he's also worked in High Academic settings, spending 4 years at Columbia and 2 years at Rice; both as Associate Head Coach. It was great to hear Coach Hartman's emphasis on family and the pride he has for his children. He spoke about his wife being his backbone and the glue that holds everything together and how the family type relationship with the Kruger family led him to UNLV to work along side Kevin Kruger after Coach Lon Kruger's retirement. It was great to be able to have this conversation with Coach Hartman and I'm looking forward to continuing to watch him shine and help others along his journey. The foundational pillars for The Brantley Method are Inspiration, Motivation and Education; the mission is to utilize stories as a vehicle to provide those pillars to the world in unique ways. As a black man, a father of young black men and a coach/mentor to young black men it is important to show them positive examples of the possibilities and potential for their futures if they only dare to dream. I recently wrote about the perceptions, misconceptions and successes of Black Coaches in NCAA Basketball and it inspired me to take it one step further and create the "More Than Just A Recruiter" Interview Series. #FreeGame #GoFURTHER 🎈🏁 *Like, Share & Subscribe*
