On this episode we have PJ Reggae Band here in the CAAMA Music Studio to play us some songs. PJ Reggae Band is an eight-piece reggae band hailing from Ti Tree, about 200km from Alice Springs. They write and perform smooth reggae rhythms and uplifting songs about country and relationships with lyrics in Warlpiri, Anmatjere and English.    They started playing remote community shows and made their festival debut at Desert Harmony Festival. And were selected for the prestigious Bush Bands Bash and Business Summit. it is a strong indicator of the band’s potential. Saltwater Band on CAAMA Music Show

On this episode we have a recording of Saltwater Band playing live from this year’s Desert Harmony Festival in Tennent Creek. Saltwater Band are an Indigenous roots band from Galiwin'ku on Elcho Island, around 560 kilometres from Darwin. The members are Yolngu and they sing mostly in Yolŋu Matha. Their songs are a mixture of traditional songs and reggae/ska influenced pop. Their first album, Gapu Damurrun, sold more than 10,000 copies, setting a record for an independent Northern Territory act. In 2004 their second album Djarridjarri was nominated for Best World Music Album at the ARIA Music Awards and also received a Deadly Award for Album Release of the Year. On this episode we have a recording of The PAW House Band playing live at the desert harmony festival. Now The PAW House Band are studio session players at PAW Music studios in Yuendumu. This is a real desert music all-star line-up with Scotty Brown from (Rising Wind and Desert Mulga Band), Kenneth Martin from the (Lajamanu Teenage Band), Donovan Rice from (Black Storm and DB40) and Julien Poulson from (The Cambodian Space Project). The Band is celebrating a back catalogue of ‘bush band’ tracks, and performing songs from a desert music history that spans 50 years. This includes tracks by  singer/songwriters such as Jimmy Langdon, Harry Jones, and Neil Murray, as well as brand new material featured on releases including First Sounds and Yapa Beats.
