Descripción

We talk a lot about burnout - but what does it really mean? In this first Calm Conversation, Sue shares what’s really happening in the body when we live in survival mode for too long, the early warning signs we often miss, and why burnout isn’t a sign of weakness - it’s your body asking for safety again. Take a few minutes to breathe, listen, and remember: calm isn’t something we find; it’s something we come home to.

Why We Feel So Overstretched

Today I am talking about a feeling I think many of us know very well. Not the big, dramatic kind of stress, but the quieter sense of being slightly overstretched. Life feels full; there is always something to hold or manage, and our nervous system quietly tries to keep up. In this short episode, I share: • how a full life shows up in the body • why the nervous system struggles with constant “on” • small signs that you might be more activated than you realise • simple ways to begin softening your system again. We look at things like tighter breathing, a rib cage that doesn't move as freely, lighter sleep and the wired-and-tired feeling that many of us carry. Most importantly, I want you to know that there is nothing wrong with you if you recognise yourself here. This is a very human response to modern life. Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing more calm, practical ways to support your nervous system through breath, gentle movement and rest, so that life feels a little steadier again.
