Descripción

This weeks Topic is: Working Through Hard Feelings It's already becoming a theme on this show that emotions while you are at summer camp are strong. Until now on the podcast we have mostly touched on happy things, like friendship and music. Today we are going to shift to something a bit different. We want to talk about working through hard feelings at camp.  Unlike what summer camps often publicize in their promotional materials, our campers' summer experiences are not all about smiles, swimming, song sessions and fun under the sun. The camp community is a microcosm of the world. Campers can be sad, they feel homesick, they argue with their friends and for many of us summer camp professionals this can be where real growth at camp happens. The camp experience isn’t always easy, but being hard doesn’t necessarily mean bad.  We’re going to talk about dealing with hard feelings at camp, and how that impacts both campers and their parents. Today we’ll be talking to a camper, Sophia, as well as our specialist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Bette Alkazian     Icebreaker “If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?” Send us your answer on our Facebook or Instagram pages. @campjcashalom Adoptions If you would like to have an adoption played on the podcast, please send us a video, audio or written adoption to podcast@shalominstitute.com The podcast is brought to you by Camp JCA Shalom, a Program of the Shalom Institute.
