EP 9 - Damian Schwab - Flight Paramedic of the Army, Whiskey, Hoist Stuff, and the Old Guard

This week we have Damian Schwab on. We will definitely have to have follow on episodes with this guy as there was just too much to talk about. The Flight Paramedic of the Army at one point, Damian wrote the book on several things including the hoist program. He now is the head of the Flight Paramedic course in Ft. Novosel along with the Joint Enroute Care Course for the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Damian also served in the "Old Guard" in Washington D.C. at the beginning of his career. Not to mention the guy has a very impressive Whiskey Room at his house in Enterprise, AL. We didn't even have time to dive into that subject... but more to come...... Enjoy!

Derek forgot the SD card when he left for an Army school in Texas, so this episode is way late guys. Recorded in January before leaving, this is a hosts only episode where we just get together in Matt's kitchen and talk shop about a very wide range of things. From dressing professionally as a public servant, to blood product admin and Paramedic pay, to why we don't like entitled people bars. This episode truly was all over the place.

A husband and father foremost, Brian shares insights on that as well as being a combat wounded Marine in Sangin, Afghanistan and how those experiences shaped his life. Being a strong advocate for veterans, Brian talks about getting out, continuing to push forward professionally as a firefighter and in general, and the balance between career and family. We also hear some great stories about a sinking boat incident off the Mexican coast and of course plenty of conversation about hunting. This is a great episode!
