The Informatics Lantern
Every step you take in healthcare, every point where you touch the system, creates an echo. Newton’s Third Law says: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. So why, when we initiate a digital transformation or impose a new clinical protocol, does the system push back at us as "resistance"? In this section, we put the invisible "recoil" forces of health informatics on the table. With our academic hat on, we examine the mutual interactions of systems; with our clinical hat, the opposing force created by "alert fatigue"; and with our leadership hat, how we can manage this reaction. If you’re wondering why the projects you implement keep ‘hitting a wall,’ then it’s time to shine the flashlight on Newton’s most dynamic law. Buckle up—because no intervention happens in a vacuum, and every ‘click’ has a cost.
