The Ladder Homilies
In this sermon on Luke 7:35, we reflect on Jesus’ words: “Wisdom is justified by her children.” What does it mean to justify wisdom? What kind of fruit are we called to bear in our lives — especially when we’re facing struggles in marriage, family, or personal hardship? Drawing from the teachings of the Church Fathers and the Orthodox understanding of sanctification (theosis), this message calls us to stop blaming others and begin the deep work of self-examination and growth. True wisdom, Jesus says, is proven right by the lives it transforms. Are we bearing the fruits of the Spirit — love, peace, patience, kindness — or just words? Christ is the Wisdom of God, and His presence in us should be visible in how we live. The question isn’t just what we believe, but what we’re becoming. 📖 Gospel Reading: Luke 7:27–35 🎙️ Sermon preached at SBGOC on June 15, 2025 🔔 Subscribe for more sermons and reflections from our Orthodox tradition.
