Four friends from Hollis,Queens designed apparel believing it would appeal to the young urban consumer like themselves, as well as artists in the music industry.  In this clip I broke down how @thesharkdaymond alongside his friends Carlton Brown, J. Alexander Martin & Keith C. Perrin , took an unknown startup brand from his mother’s house with little to no money and built a billion dollar brand.  At their peak FUBU had legends such as P.Diddy, Nas, Dr. Dre, Will Smith, LL Cool J and a host of others wearing their apparel. In 1998 they did $350 million in annual worldwide sales and has done about $6 billion since starting out in 1992.

Since starting QVP they have gone on to be a major force in Silicon Valley with over 100 investments in multiple tech startups, some that are household names today. If you look on the Forbes list of billionaires the top entrepreneurs come from the tech. it would make since that he would invest in tech because the rewards, if the investments pay off are massive. In 2013, Nas’ investment firm, QueensBridge Venture Partners, entered Coinbase’s Series B round, back when the cryptocurrency exchange platform was valued at around $143 million. On Wednesday, it’s estimated to reach a valuation of over $100 billion when it’s listed on the Nasdaq. In other words, Nas’ early investment in the largest cryptocurrency platform has payed off major dividends. His firm is reported to received 100 pitches a month to this day, the question now becomes is Esco well on his way to becoming hip hop’s next billionaire.
