So when I was thinking back about it I would have liked to add a little more detail. For instance that the microbiome is as individual to each of us as our fingerprint, that it helps to break down foods which makes the nutrients in those foods more bio-available, that in adults it weighs approximately 1.5 kilograms, which is quite similar to our brains. The microbiome is also known as the second brain. When I mentioned about eating a good variety of plant foods because the microbiome family likes a good variety, but also each type of bacteria (each member of that extended family) prefers specific kinds of fibre. I could go on.... An important note on combining hydration and fibre: I mentioned hydration first, before I talked about eating a good amount of fibre, that is because it is important to hydrate and have this established as a good habit before you increase your fibre intake to avoid possible constipation. In summary, there are a lot of layers to consider when talking about how to get a good poo, we could easily chat a whole day 🙂
