TQTB 004: Antonio Jose Guzman

In this episode, Marie-Anne speaks with Visual Artist Antonio Jose Guzman. One half of creative duo Electric Dub Station, Antonio’s creative journey has its roots in the punk scene in his native Panama before moving to The Netherlands and embracing the 90s warehouse rave culture as a photographer. Together with Serbian Painter and Textile Artist Iva Jankovic, Electric Dub Station explores the relationship between creolisation, migration, decolonising textiles and the alchemy of indigo, a sacred dye with deep significance in indigenous communities from West Africa to South America to India. The duo has exhibited at biennials worldwide including Dakar, Havana, Venice and Panama as well as museums and festivals from Miami to Amsterdam. TQTB 003: Jon Madge

In this episode Marie-Anne speaks with Writer and Director, Jon Madge (they/them). An audio sitcom enthusiast from South London, Jon is a life-long student of the creative process. A deep love for reading was further ignited as a child by BBC comedies and dramas, setting their imagination alight. Jon now channels this passion for storytelling and theatre into Keeping The Zoo, an audio sitcom based on their time working in a petting zoo. Due for release this summer, Keeping the Zoo is performed by cast members from Downstage Left, an international theatre group in Amsterdam bringing characters to life in front of a live audience. In this episode Marie-Anne speaks with Artist and Meditation Guide, Malika Ali Harding (she/her). Hailing from Cleveland Ohio, multi-hyphenate Malika combines a deep love for writing, filmmaking, curating, photography, sound and performance, creating where – in her words – the sacred meets the profane. Malika shares the inspiration behind The Way Our Tongues Move, a series of performed portraits merging the micro and the macro to honour the legacy of her favourite uncle David – one of a generation of young gay men across the United States in the 80s and 90s who lost their lives to the HIV Aids epidemic. The Ugandan born, Amsterdam-based curator, researcher and writer Musoke takes her passion for Black queer artistic production from across the African continent and diaspora and distills it all into MOTORMOND – a pan-African non-profit art gallery and community space in the Dutch capital.
