Three decades ago, Mike Leigh released a film about a woman with a secret who has told and will continue to tell a bunch of lies about it. While the title is rather on the nose, the movie itself takes quite a few twists and turns, and the way it was made is almost as interesting (some would say more, hello Matt) as the film itself. Nominated for 5 Oscars (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and -- ironically -- Best Screenplay), SECRETS & LIES is on the Rewind Project docket this week.

In 2001, the Coen Brothers told the story of a mild-mannered barber in an unhappy marriage decides to blackmail his wife's boss (and lover). THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE was shot in black-and-white in the style of classic film noir, so you can be pretty sure he'll regret his choices soon enough. But because it's Joel & Ethan Coen, there's no way in the world you can predict exactly where this movie will go. This isn't the most celebrated film in the Coen oeurve, but the Rewinders decided to take a gander anyway.
