Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2215705/open_sms] On the finale episode of The Rough Concept Podcast, I share about the moment I met Paul, a podcast producer from Fort Worth, Texas. What he said really brought so much to surface and it was everything I needed to hear. I think it is what many of us struggle with in pursuing any creative thing. Ep 15 : Cultivating Creativity Through Connection and Community with Marrica Evans Calahan

Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2215705/open_sms] For as long as I can remember, I've had a solid support system of people that believed in me and supported me wherever I was in my career and life journey.  Let’s talk about the powerful roles that connection and community play in nurturing our creativity. I truly believe that it's how we find strength, motivation, and inspiration. Relationships and creative community brings this sense of belonging that can ignite our artistic passion and fuel our creative process. This week I have Marrica Evans Calahan, photographer, content creator and my very own creative coworker and friend! I cannot wait for you to hear the story of her evolution, how she's created a lane of her own,  and  operates from of place of intention. This week's gems: Safe, Free, and Supported Spaces Nurture Creativity: A supportive environment can make the creative process less isolating and more magical. It helps one feel safe, free, and encourages artistic expression. Community Connection Fosters Creativity and Mental Well-being: Continuous engagement and interaction with like-minded individuals can boost creative output, prevent mental stagnation, and offer steady inspiration. Shared Experiences Foster Growth: Connecting with others on a similar path affords the opportunity to learn from their experiences and grow as an artist. The shared wisdom is a potent catalyst for personal development and success. Creativity is Amplified Through Collaboration: Collaboration brings unique perspectives to the table and expands creative thinking. Working with others can result in output greater than what any single individual could achieve. Community Acts as a Confidence Booster: A supportive community provides motivation, reassurance, and the confidence to tackle creative challenges. The sense of belonging within such a community can powerfully fuel the creative process and inspire personal growth. Creative Prompt: How have your relationships and collaborations helped you develop as creative? How has being part of a community uplifted your creative spirit? I want you to create a piece that reflects your idea of 'community.' It can be a painting, a sketch, a song, a poem, or any medium that resonates with you. The key here is to allow yourself the freedom to truly dive deep into your own experience and interpret the concept in your own unique way. To connect with Marrica and learn more about her work, you can visit her website at www.marricaevans.com [https://www.marricaevans.com/].  Make sure to follow her on Instagram @beingmarrica [https://www.instagram.com/beingmarrica] and @marricaevans [https://www.instagram.com/marricaevans] to stay updated with her latest projects and insights. episode Ep 13 : The Masterpiece featuring Sylvia Wong artwork

Ep 13 : The Masterpiece featuring Sylvia Wong

Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2215705/open_sms] On this week's episode, I share my a season where I overanalyzed my healing journey and was inspired by Kobe Campbell's words, "Healing is not becoming the best version of yourself. Healing is letting the worst version of yourself be loved." to create In Her Healing.  It was a reminder that we are ever changing, evolving, learning and adapting which means this healing thing is constant and that is okay. What I know now is the grace and love that I need to give myself on this journey, loving every part of myself regardless of expectations.  I've got Sylvia Wong, calligrapher, educator and live artist behind ViaCalligraphy, with me this week.  From the sisterhood of the #JustMarriedJacket in 2016 to teaching calligraphy and live art, Syl gives us a quick peak of her journey while sharing what she loves about the creative process. Tune in to hear more of why she would much rather create for the love of the craft over capitalism. Creative Prompt: You know that you are a masterpiece, right? I believe that a self portrait is one of the most intimate ways to self reflect. I've done it a few times. You have to unveil every curve of your profile, discover what you like, what you don't. It's a process of self-love and discovery. I've done it a few times over the years and it prompts me to truly see myself. I invite you to create your own self portrait this week. It can include words, objects that speak for what is true to you To connect with Sylvia and learn more about her work, you can visit her website at www.viacalligraphy.com [https://www.viacalligraphy.com/].  Make sure to follow her on Instagram @viacalligraphy [https://www.instagram.com/viacalligraphy/] to stay updated with her latest projects and insights.
