NFL Player retirement, Andrew Luck, DeMarcus Cousins, New Jersey School District, AHOTW, GGOTW

On this week’s episode of ‘The Slant Podcast’ with VF Castro and George Wrightster, we’re talking about Andrew Luck and the process that players go through when they retire. As well as Demarcus “Boogie” Cousins’ arrest warrant, and why due process matters in these cases. To close out the discussion, we’re unveiling our “Asshole of the Week,” and our “Good Guy of the Week,” which encapsulates all things sports, pop culture, politics, and the other unmentionables that are unsuitable for work, or family commutes. We begin with Andrew Luck, and ask the question of whether the news media has the right to break player retirement news, or whether media owes it to the players to shape their own narrative during such a difficult process. George also walks listeners through the process players traditionally go through as they transition into retirement, as well as the long-term financial realities retirement entails. Hot Tip: Most players don’t make it to a secondary contract and most careers are less than four years long, so retirement isn’t what people think it is. In the segment in Demarcus Cousins, VF sheds some perspective from a female angle by discussing why it’s important to provide evidence in its entirety, when it comes to any domestic or verbal dispute. To conclude, our “Asshole of the Week” is the New Jersey School district, which is considering not serving students lunches with debt of $20 or more. Side Note: VF is not a socialist! And our “Good Guy of the Week” is FOX News anchor Neil Cavuto, who told President Donald Trump that the media doesn’t work for the president, as a response to Trump saying the network is no longer working for the Republican Party.
