Day 29 | Waiting for the Moon

Day 29 | Waiting for the Moon We're on Day 29 of Ramadan, and tonight - after sunset - communities across the world will look to the sky, waiting to see if the new crescent moon appears. If it does, tomorrow is Eid. If it doesn't, we have one more day of Ramadan. For over fourteen centuries, this is how it's been done, people gathering at sunset, looking up, waiting for that thin crescent to appear. Not checking a calendar. Just looking, waiting, together. In this episode, we explore this beautiful tradition of uncertainty and waiting. You'll hear about: 1. The moon sighting tradition spanning fourteen centuries, looking, waiting, together 2. The beauty of this uncertainty, can't rush ahead, must be present today 3. Tonight: communities gathering, checking phones for news, moon sighted or one more day? 4. Both answers are fine, either outcome is wonderful 5. Today might feel suspended, not quite last day, but possibly, invitation to just be with today 6. Your last suhoor/iftar might be today or tomorrow, won't know until tonight 7. The beauty of honoring nature's rhythm over schedule certainty 8. Tonight: maybe step outside, look up, be part of this ancient practice 9. Either tonight or tomorrow marks the end, Ramadan completing its beautiful cycle The uncertainty keeps you present. That's part of its gift. For daily, sharp GCC business and cultural insights that take less than 60 seconds to read, The Souk Secrets newsletter is the place to go. Day 28 | Entering the Final Days

Day 28 | Entering the Final Days We're on Day 28 of Ramadan, entering the final stretch. There are just a few days left, possibly two or three, depending on when the moon is sighted. You're not quite at the end yet, but you can feel it approaching. The energy shifts. There's an awareness that this month - with all its rhythms and rituals - is nearly complete. In this episode, we explore how to be present during these final days of a sacred month. You'll hear about: 1. The particular feeling of these final days, not quite ended, but approaching 2. If you want to be intentional: show up for what's left, spend time with people, let something go 3. Offering gratitude for the month, the people, the awareness it brought 4. Permission to rest when you need to, rest is necessary, not giving up 5. These days don't need to be perfect, they can just be the final days 6. People put pressure on last days to make up for earlier, but it's about presence, not compensation 7. Moon sighting anticipation starting to build, the uncertainty, the collective waiting 8. You've moved through 28 days, shown up however you could, almost there Showing up - even in small, imperfect ways - is enough. episode Day 27 | The People Who Made It More Beautiful artwork

Day 27 | The People Who Made It More Beautiful

Day 27 | The People Who Made It More Beautiful One of the gifts of Ramadan is how it brings people together, the shared iftars, late-night conversations after prayers, the collective experience of everyone moving through the same rhythm. There's something special about knowing millions of people across the world are doing this at the same time as you. But beyond that collective spirit, there are usually a few specific people who add warmth to the month in ways you remember. In this episode, we explore how people enhance an already meaningful month, the friend who invited you over, the colleague who showed grace, the neighbor who shared food, the person who made space without asking questions. You'll hear about: 1. Ramadan's inherent gift of togetherness and shared rhythms 2. The people who added warmth: friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, community 3. How acts of thoughtfulness during this month carry particular weight 4. If you felt disconnected, building community for next year starts with you 5. Keeping connections alive beyond these thirty days 6. How sharing this month multiplies its meaning 7. Taking a moment to acknowledge who made your Ramadan richer 8. If you showed up for others, thank you, it mattered Ramadan has its own beauty. But it's the people in your life who often make those invitations feel real, who turn concepts into experiences.
