One thing I’ve come to learn is that as a creative, breaks are vital. Especially when you are a multifaceted creative. Breaks allow us to not only recharge but regroup and come back to ourselves in a different way. They give us renewed energy to dive into our creativity in a different way and see what’s waiting to be born. I took a two-month break from this podcast and today I share why and what I learned and how I’m going to apply it to my life moving forward. Breaks are now a necessity for me. A non-negotiable. A boundary. Because we can’t be of true service to the world if we are burnt out. Episode Highlights I ask the important question: Why is it so hard for us to slow down and take breaks? Why you can’t force creativity and you have to go with the flow of it How this transition (my move up north) has totally kicked my butt! How I intuitively knew when it was time to start moving faster My very first custom barn dar pice I made I discuss my new creative endeavors How I Identify most as a write Exclusive content to newsletter subscribers I’m facing fear and doing this podcast episode unscripted! Giving ourselves permission to take breaks as creative and how breaks are gifts Allow things to transform through us instead of forcing ourselves to be creative all the time How I’m breaking old patterns of jumping from thing to thing You never lose your creativity Getting to create vs having to create Self-worth and creativity Processing emotions and feeling everything My new love of journaling How I made the connection that I didn’t feel worthy of being truly happy Resources And Links Follow me on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/_sawdustandsoul/?hl=en https://www.instagram.com/p/B3slK2MA-vG/ I just made https://tobemagnetic.com/pathway-affiliate?fpr=amanda37 http://amandawhitworth.com/52-weeks-of-writing https://www.headwestmarketplace.com/ My website: http://amandawhitworth.com/ http://eepurl.com/gtxe49 You can now watch my journey unfold on my Youtube channel, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCR7h3Jn5yQVuXGKZHnLVqdA?view_as=subscriber as well. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCR7h3Jn5yQVuXGKZHnLVqdA?view_as=subscriber --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thisiswhyyouarentcreative/support
Sometimes the beating of our heart’s desires don’t always make sense. At least, not for a little while that is. I never once thought about living in a yurt until the opportunity arose and became a very real possibility in my life. If anything, I always thought of myself as more of a tiny home or cabin deep in the woods gal when it came to alternative living. But when the opportunity for this experience came into my life on one serendipitous early July afternoon, something inside of me knew I had to pursue it. True to how most of the things I’m suppose to be doing happen, it all unfolded rather effortlessly and today, I live in a yurt on a goat farm in Northern California. I’m excited to share more with you in this episode. Episode Highlights Why I moved to a small town to live in a yurt and how I never even wanted to live in one! The questions I started to ask myself that got me to make changes. Why I often feel like a fraud. How my unhappiness made me say “Hell Yes!” to this dream. What my goals for "#yurtlife are. Listen to the end because I ask you POWERFUL questions to get you to make real, impactful changes in your life! Sometimes it takes getting really sick to understand the value of life. Hopefully, for you, it doesn’t. Today I share how being diagnosed with cancer right as my wood art business was taking off forced me to make some big decisions about how I was going to show up in life. Illness is running ramped in our country and it seems like more and more people are facing some incredibly challenging decisions in regards to their health and life. My hope with this episode is I give you the courage to move forward in your life, regardless of whatever challenges you are faced with. I hope it inspires you to live your fullest, most authentic and happy life. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thisiswhyyouarentcreative/support
In this very first episode, I’m talking about how I landed on my path to creativity. From thinking I didn’t have a creative bone in my body, to becoming a self-taught woodworker and artist, writer, and just all around wildly creative woman, I’m sharing the number one thing I started following. The voice in my head. Yep, I started hearing a voice dropping little breadcrumbs which has inevitably led me to where I am today. This voice was actually my intuition, something we all have. Journey with me into this episode to learn what happened when I started listening instead of fearing this inner drive. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thisiswhyyouarentcreative/support
