Fear of the Lord (Where has it gone?)

*This episode deals with current events and may be upsetting. However, we are called to speak truth and not be afraid of speaking up.  This episode is centred on Proverbs 1:7 and 9:10.  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7 ESV The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10 ASV Fear of the Lord as it is found in Proverbs 1:7 and 9:10 comes from the Hebrew word Yirah. This word means reverence, respect, and awe. Scripture tells us that when we are in awe of God, respect Him, and stand in reverence of Him, we can then be given the spiritual gift of wisdom. Did you know that wisdom is a spiritual gift? This week we discuss why the fear of the Lord is so important, wisdom and knowledge. With wisdom, comes righteous decisions. Like most of you, I am saddened by what has been happening in the United States for some time now, and this week was another gut punch. Although I have been registered in a political party for voting purposes, I am a Christian. My political party does not dictate my actions; my faith, my relationship with Jesus Christ does. I challenge you to study Proverbs this week with me to focus on the fear of the Lord to help us become wise in His sight.
