Descripción

Are you pursuing your definition of success? Or someone else's?   In 2019, Populace (a think tank) coupled with the Gallup organization to ask Americans what they really think about success. (Canadians: I suspect the findings carry over the border.)   The results are fascinating.   There is a significant gap between how we think society defines success and how we personally define it.   This gap leads us to measure ourselves against standards that are not our own.   And, from what I see in my practice, this leads to dissatisfaction and frustration, as well as a dip in life satisfaction.   So if you want to feel more satisfied at work and in life, you need to take a close look at what your personal metrics of success are and work towards those.   In this episode, I: * walk you through the research on success, * make a case for defining and pursuing success on your terms, * and share a question to help you find your personal definition.   Discover your personal definition of success by completing my Start With the End in Mind Activity. "Is This All There Is?" Mid-life Malaise and One Way to Address It

In Western culture, we hold the belief that once you reach a certain level of professional accomplishment and financial security, you'll achieve happiness and fulfillment. Grind it out long enough in the law firm, in med school, on the trading floor, or at the construction site and you'll get there.   But many of us reach the place of "having it all" and we're not happy or fulfilled.   In this episode, I share: * my story of "having it all" (except the happiness), * the nagging question that prompted action, * the Happiness U-curve, * and, a question to help you get to the core of what might be missing.
