It’s a common misconception that you need to put 20% down when buying your first home which is completely false. Those with good Credit/FICO scores especially should NOT feel forced to put 20% down because the cost of PMI is cheaper than it was in years past. PMI is not something to fear as the cost of waiting until you’ve saved up 20% down often times will cost more than the PMI would have.
