The Good Stuff and the Hard Stuff—always best when we are connected. Jess and Cathy share their highs and lows from the past weekend.  The “Best Weekend of the Year”—the Kentucky Three-Day Event was this past weekend.  It is a five star event—bringing the best riders from the world. Cathy is involved with her expertise in course design, helping repair any footing and jumps that might get compromised during the cross country phase.  She also did color commentating for the show jumping on Sunday for anyone that bought headsets to listen.  Jess had good friends in for it—her riding buddies from 55 years ago, whom she has remained close. The low was losing their little Boston Terrier, Tessa on Sunday morning.   They go on to say how important each of their dogs have been their whole lives, commemorating different chapters of their lives.  It is all so rich, this love we have for people and for our animals, and so the grief is felt and it too, is rich and necessary.    Let us know what you think—subscribe, share and leave a comment!   Theme song and host introduction. episode Getting the Tools for Life! artwork

Getting the Tools for Life!

Getting Tools for Life!   It is all about relationship.  Jess and Cathy are so grateful to have learned tools that help them.  We don’t know what we don’t know!  Early in their relationship, when Jess was getting her Masters of Social Work, she learned about the Getting the Love You Want work of Harville Hendrix.  She and Cathy went to a weekend workshop in the Maggie Valley of North Carolina.  It has given them the tools to have a rich relationship that evolves daily!  Jess became certified in that work, and many other modalities to help her clients the most.  Cathy talks about Natural Horsemanship and how it helps the relationship with the horse and rider.  They can then reach the goals that the rider has.  It is all about what we can learn—what tools can you pick up to help you and others?   Peace and Love!  Subscribe and share!      Theme song and host introduction. episode Endings Lead to New Beginnings artwork

Endings Lead to New Beginnings

Endings Lead to New Beginnings Jess and Cathy discuss the circle of life—when one thing ends, a new beginning starts.  They reflect on their careers—how there are different phases.  Cathy grew into being an upper level competitor and that entailed going to Florida 8 weeks during the winter, renting a barn, being closer to her instructors that teach upper level competitors.  She taught less, she didn’t have as much time for the business side of her work, and had less money. Now she says doesn’t miss competing, she has more time for her students, and has an expansive course design profession.  Jess was not a professional with horses, but competed at the preliminary level for a lot of years.  When motherhood came along, she didn’t want to compete as much.  Her horse had retired.  Now she rides just for the fun.  Jess also talks about the sadness seeing this past week her old fruit and vegetable building had been torn down.  There are always new things on the horizon to do and become!
