The Black high school completed construction in 1927 amid a great stir; as the Indiana Supreme Court had already made it clear that no-one had a right to stop construction, especially based on personal "fears" or "apprehensions." However, they would get involved if a black student was denied any advantage that other high schoolers in the state enjoyed.
