Tipsy Technologists
I did not expect this episode to go the way it did. Jake Goheen is a Senior Technical Fusion SME at IBM and honestly one of the most entertaining guests we've had on. We laughed a lot. We also talked about some stuff that every IT leader needs to hear right now. We got into the whole Broadcom and VMware situation, what companies are actually doing about it, and why the "rip and replace" approach is the wrong move. Jake broke down what IBM Fusion is and why the platform approach makes more sense than juggling six different vendors, six contracts, and six completely separate teams who can't talk to each other. We also talked about AI. Specifically, the gap between companies that want to do AI and companies that actually know what they need. Jake's take on this was probably my favorite part of the conversation. And then there's tape storage. Yes, tape. Jake defended it. . And by the end of it, so did I. We wrapped up with what IT leaders should actually be doing right now, including a hardware shortage that almost nobody is talking about but probably should be. Plus rapid fire questions, a story about accidentally taking down an entire school district during standardized testing, and strong opinions about Microsoft certifications. Come hang out with us.
