S2, EP1: The Landscape of gender equality in the workplace in Uganda & Africa

What does gender equality in the workplace look like across Uganda and Africa? Rita Achiro, Executive Director of Uganda Women’s Network (UWONET), shares insights on progress, challenges and opportunities for building inclusive work environments. Power relations in the workplace mirror those in our society: roles given to women are often confined to the domestic sphere with little or no economic gain, while men are assigned roles outside the domestic sphere with economic benefits. This imbalance translates into workplace dynamics—for example, how men may treat a female boss. Tune in to learn how advocacy and leadership are reshaping workplaces for women across the continent.
