Voices from the Piazza
Sonia arrived in London young, hopeful, and quickly boxed in by circumstances she hadn’t chosen. Much of her world narrowed to a single room, shared time, and long stretches of quiet where thoughts had nowhere to go but inward. This story reveals how creativity can be uncovered through confinement: how making something - without knowing why or where it might lead - can become a way of taking up space. It traces a subtle shift, from feeling closed out to being met, not through explanation, but through recognition. A piece about expression, belief, and the moment when something private is seen and held by others. Like, follow and subscribe to the podcast wherever you’re listening to hear more stories. VOICES FROM THE PIAZZA is an audio-visual exhibition, created to celebrate people who live, work and contribute to the Victoria area. It celebrates 50 years of Westminster Cathedral Piazza and will be installed in the Piazza for three months from January 2026. Presented by London Heritage Quarter [https://london-hq.co.uk/], and created by Heard Storytelling [http://www.heardstorytelling.com].
