Episode 306: Catching up with Chris and Leah

Miss us yet? This week on When Can You Start, we catch back up with our hosts, Chris and Leah, as they give us an update of their own lives! Leah ditches the camera and the call sheets for the reformer and the grip socks as she dives into the Pilates instructor world. Chris also leaves the control room for the private practice as he pursues a career in Mental Health Counseling. Both share their stories about what they loved about their old careers, what was challenging, and what the path looks like going forward. Just goes to show… even the hosts don’t have it all figured out yet!!

Episode 305: Kip Opperman

On this episode of When Can You Start, we hear from Kip Opperman. Kip is an interpreter and American Sign Language professor at Ithaca College. As a hearing person not knowing anything about deaf culture, Kip found his first job working at the New York State School for the Deaf in their housing department. There he learned sign language from the students, opening his eyes up to where he would eventually find his career. While his career is winding towards retirement, you can still find Kip playing with his band True Blue around the Upstate New York area!

Episode 304: Emily Price

Tell me how you really feel on this episode of When Can You Start as we speak to Emily Price, a therapist with a private practice! Starting from a young age, Emily always said she had a “healers personality”. Growing up as the daughter and granddaughter to school psychologists, she was able to hone in her passion for helping others. Her first job in the world of psychology was a counselor at a Sexual Assault Crisis Center, where she learned first hand how to help others reach their peace while preserving her own. Throughout her career story, Emily found herself bouncing around the Northeast United States between Connecticut, Boston, and New York, trying to find a place to plant her roots. Finding a foothold in Texas, she was able to open a private practice where she continues her mission to help and heal people wherever she can.

Episode 303: Nora Hennessy

On this week’s episode of When Can You Start, “focus” on Nora Hennessy, a Pilates instructor at Focus Pilates! Nora developed her skills for leading groups by teaching children’s theatre while aspiring to be an actress in LA. As her path towards her goals changed, she found herself still leading groups (and privates) but this time, for Pilates. Just like how she took control of her fitness opportunity when it came, Nora hopes to continue to follow opportunities when they present themselves.
