Descripción

Here it is. The first episode of Wild Echoes - a podcast that looks at intriguing instruments, peculiar pedals and mysterious musical machines.  This inaugural episode feature a conversation with Hugh Jones of Fieldtone (https://www.fieldtone.uk [https://www.fieldtone.uk/]) We talk about his background in music and instrument design, how this led to Fieldtone and why his two products – the Weaver and the Box of Uncertainly – have resonated so much with people.  As well as a few audio clips of the Weaver in action (including a contribution from Steve Cobby - https://www.instagram.com/stevecobby/ [https://www.instagram.com/stevecobby/])  There’s also details on how you can have your short audio sketches featured on future episodes of Wild Echoes. A reminder to send any contributions you have to wild.echoes.podcast@gmail.com [wild.echoes.podcast@gmail.com] Further Reading Researching this episode took me down some wonderful rabbit holes. Here are a selection of items of interest related to this episode: http://www.crewdson.net/  [http://www.crewdson.net/] - Hugh’s website which includes information about his work as a musician (under the name Crewdson) and an instrument creator.  https://crewdsoncevanne.bandcamp.com/album/rites-for-crossing-water [https://crewdsoncevanne.bandcamp.com/album/rites-for-crossing-water] - Hugh’s project with the brilliant Cevanne Horrocks-Hopaiyan. The whole Rites for Crossing Water EP is brilliant and I’ve purchased the accompanying booklet featuring drawings from Jessica Glover.  https://soundcloud.com/eavesdropping_london/22-cevanne-horrocks-hopayian-2023 [https://soundcloud.com/eavesdropping_london/22-cevanne-horrocks-hopayian-2023] - My reading on Cevanne Horrocks-Hopaiyan took me to this wonderful podcast called Eavesdropping Conversations. I then discovered the whole Eavesdropping platform and upcoming festival (https://www.eavesdropping.london/ [https://www.eavesdropping.london/]) and I highly recommend you do the same!  https://tapenotes.co.uk/project/tn129-mathew-herbert [https://tapenotes.co.uk/project/tn129-mathew-herbert] - Tape Notes has been one of my favourite podcasts for many years. This episode features Hugh Jones collaborator Matthew Herbert talking about creating an album using instruments constructed entirely from a horse’s skeleton.
