Wings on Katella
Episode 35 recaps the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs between the Anaheim Ducks and the Edmonton Oilers. The Ducks won the series in 6 games over the Oilers on Thursday night with a 5-2 victory at the Honda Center. Jack and Zach both represented The Sporting Tribune at the series with coverage from the ice. The guys also react to what the series meant to Orange County, Connor McDavid's lackluster performance early in the series, while also discussing a first-round exit from the playoffs after reaching the Stanley Cup Finals the past two years in a row. The hockey side of the episode ends with the guys discussing Jackson Lacombe's rise to stardom this season and becoming one of the best defenseman in the game, crediting Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek for his construction of the roster this year, and ends with a potential preview of who the Ducks will face in the Western Conference semi-finals between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Utah Mammoth. The guys briefly discuss baseball and go over the recent struggles of the Los Angeles Angels. Where do their struggles fall? Is it new manager Kurt Suzuki? The bullpen?
