It's easy to get lost in the daily news cycle, with its constant barrage of headlines and updates. What's often missing, however, is a broader and deeper analysis of what’s behind the headlines. In those riots in Los Angeles, a key Maoist tactic was at play called the “mass line,” where organizers generate a movement for political means and make it look like a grassroots movement. Meanwhile, alongside the ongoing protests and riots, an assassin has killed a representative and her husband, and injured another official and their spouse. And now, we’re seeing the next phase of the law enforcement operations, with arrests and wanted posters. The Department of Homeland Security announced it had arrested hundreds of illegal immigrants during the riots. The FBI has a wanted poster out for a man accused of throwing stones at police officers. And the Department of Homeland Security has announced the arrest of an illegal immigrant accused of firebombing police.
