I’m sure you’ve heard of using collagen for skin, hair, and anti-aging, but does collagen really work? It does, but in more ways than you think! Find out about the real benefit of collagen you’ve probably never heard about. Learn more about collagen absorption to maximize the benefits! Watch this episode next: Reset Your Body in 5 Days (With Zero Food) [https://open.spotify.com/episode/4oKZ046rIAE3zwxDb06ZaO] Chapters:- 0:00 Introduction: Collagen benefits 1:04 What is collagen? 2:45 More benefits of collagen 4:10 Collagen peptides 7:58 The best collagen sources 9:22 Improving collagen absorption and function Collagen is often used for hair, skin, nails, and joints. It’s been used to prevent wrinkles and as a beauty product, but the real benefit of collagen has nothing to do with beauty! Our ancestors ate animals nose to tail. This means they included organ meats, bone marrow, cartilage, and skin as vital parts of their diet. Around 30% of the protein in your body is collagen. It makes up the connective tissue of the body. Your tendons, ligaments, cartilage, fascia, and even a portion of your bones are made of collagen. In modern times, most of our meat doesn’t contain much collagen. Only 1% to 3% of the protein we eat is collagen. This can lead to deficiencies in glycine, a key amino acid. When you’re 17, you have the most collagen of your entire life. As we age, we lose a significant amount of collagen, leading to skin sagging, wrinkles, joint issues, and increased overall fragility. Here are some of the surprising benefits of collagen: •Antioxidant properties •Helps increase glutathione •Gut lining repair •Glycine for sleep and detoxification Most of the collagen from the diet breaks down into amino acids. Only 10% remains as collagen peptide chains. Peptides are signaling molecules that tell the body to repair and rebuild connective tissue. These peptides trigger specific genes that activate the fibroblast cells in the body to produce collagen and elastin. When you consume muscle meat, eggs, and whey protein, you’re only getting amino acids, not the signaling molecules for repairing and rebuilding. To increase your collagen intake, you can try a collagen supplement. You can also consume collagen-rich foods, such as the skin on chicken or fish. You can use bones, joints, and cartilage to make a variety of stews and soups. Bone marrow is an excellent source of collagen! Grass-fed, grass-finished beef has more collagen than conventional beef. You can even try mixing collagen powder in your coffee! Don’t forget the cofactors, vitamin C, biotin, and trace minerals, which are vital for collagen absorption and function. Discover the best foods for kidney disease and other kidney problems. #kidney #kidneydisease #kidneyhealth #kidneyfailure #endstagekidneydisease DATA: https://karger.com/ajn/article/41/6/456/326074/Serum-Potassium-End-Stage-Renal-Disease-and 0:00 Introduction: Kidney disease prevention 0:20 Top causes of kidney disease 1:01 Understanding the kidneys 1:32 Best foods for kidney disease 5:33 Learn more about preventing kidney disease! Today I want to cover the best foods for kidney disease. The top causes of kidney problems are diabetes, insulin resistance, and high-sugar, high-carb diets. Consuming a low-carb diet, like the Healthy Keto® diet, and doing intermittent fasting are two of the best things you can do to help prevent kidney disease. But, if you have stage 3A through stage 5 kidney disease, you may want to consider making some adjustments to your keto plan. If you have a kidney problem, it’s important to work with your doctor to make sure certain nutrients aren’t out of range. These nutrients include potassium, sodium, and phosphorus. Protein levels can also become too high if someone has a kidney problem. The best diet tips for kidney disease: • Consume lower amounts of high-quality protein (pasture-raised organic eggs, wild-caught fish, seafood, and grass-fed, grass-finished beef) • Consume lower amounts of sodium (2,300 mg of sodium per day) • Avoid processed foods and junk foods • Avoid high-potassium foods and consume low-potassium foods • Avoid soda • Avoid foods high in phosphorus • Take the natural form of certain vitamins (B vitamins, vitamin C, and vitamin D3) • Get plenty of omega-3 fatty acids (take cod liver oil) Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 58, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Let me clear something up. A protein is not really protein. Here’s what I mean. Serenity Products: https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/ACC99AE8-4A45-45BF-845C-B8D7E815923D 0:00 Introduction: Protein is not protein 0:14 Protein RDAs 2:40 Foods rich in protein 2:57 Protein explained 7:46 Protein for kids 8:58 Learn more about protein! Today, I want to clear up some confusion around protein. Typically, the minimum amount of protein a person needs is 50 grams. You might think that if you consume a beef steak that’s 100 grams or 3.5 ounces, you’re getting double the amount of protein you need for the day. However, there is a difference between the weight of a steak and the amount of protein in the steak. For example, a steak that weighs 100 grams only contains 26 grams of protein. This is because steak also contains fat and water. Proteins also vary in amino acids. We don’t even really have a daily requirement for protein—we actually have a daily requirement for amino acids in the protein. The problem lies in the quality of protein or the bioavailable acids in the food you eat. While some plants have protein, animal sources are a better option for protein than plant sources. Also, know that many infant formulas and foods for toddlers are loaded with soy protein and other plant proteins that can cause problems with digestion. Foods high in protein: 1. Breast milk 2. Eggs 3. Meat 4. Chicken 5. Dairy Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 58, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. Today I want to answer some important questions about probiotics. Probiotics are microbes. Microbes are a crucial part of our world. They convert carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur into forms that living things can use. We have ten times more microbes living on and inside our bodies than we have cells. Microbes have many functions and help us in various ways, including: • Helping to make nutrients available • Providing immune protection • Protecting against pathogens • Supporting detoxification • Improving digestion • Helping to make vitamins Strong hydrochloric acid in the stomach can kill a good portion of microbes. Bile salts also affect the microbiome. But, some microbes are resilient and can even live without oxygen. How to support the survival of probiotics in the stomach: 1. Take a probiotic supplement or consume probiotic foods at the end of your meal 2. Consume probiotics earlier in the day 3. If fasting, drink more water with your probiotics 4. Don’t take probiotics with lemon water or apple cider vinegar water 5. Consume raw plants grown in soil Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 58, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting.
