City responds to concerns over conditions at Ebenezer Safe Space amidst pressure on facilities and overcrowding

Last week we received a call from a resident staying at one of the City of Cape Town’s homeless safe spaces, raising concerns about conditions at the Ebenezer Safe Space, particularly around ablution facilities, overcrowding, and pressure on basic services. The caller, Zachary Olsen, acknowledged the City’s broader support efforts for people experiencing homelessness, but described strain on infrastructure due to high occupancy levels and limited facilities.
