Join Raymond Grenfell for a brand new edition of the Indymedia Show. Last Wednesday, during peak hour, about 300 Pro-Palestinian activists rallied outside the US Consulate in Perth. It’s been estimated that at least 50,000 people have been killed in Gaza, with sources such as the United Nations & World Health Organisation also stating that it’s possible that 100-150,000 people have been killed. Indymedia’s Joni Boyd, walked with activists, to record their voices and hear what the activists were rallying for. Also being discussed on the episode, is the ongoing expansion to Burrup Hub. The Australian Federal Government have given the green light to the expansion of the North-West Shelf, which is disconcerning for traditional owners, environmentalists & activists who have been campaigning to try and stop the expansion. Raylene Cooper, longtime campaigner for Save Our Songlines, joins the show to discuss the expansion on the North-West Shelf. Plus the news that mainstream media hasn’t spoken about. Sophie McNeill, Newly elected Greens Upper House member, joins the show to discuss the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Thousands of families, especially ones with young children, have been forced into starvation and deprived of human needs, as Israel further attempts to push civilians out, after denying humanitarian aid from entering Gaza for over past 2 months. United Workers Union paramedics are currently engaging in Industrial action after they’ve seen their wages fall by 9%, amongst other conditions, whilst they’ve worked to protect Western Australia from Covid and other serious issues we face. Paramedics are asking for better pay and conditions, with many paramedics working 13-17 hour shifts with no meal breaks, unable to participate in regular community activities and also being limited to spending Christmas with their families once every 7 years. Rebecca Thompson, Senior Organiser for the United Workers Union, joins the show to chat with Ray. 4ZZZ’s Andy Payne, spoke with Mahnaz Abbasi, a Brisbane woman who decided to use online technology to enable girls in Afghanistan to learn together. Abbasi founded Daneshland, which celebrates their one year anniversary, and was behind the inspiration for the exhibition at Inala Art Gallery, “Still Waiting, Still Fighting” Also joining the show is Megan Krakouer, current WA Senate candidate for the party, Australia’s Voice. Megan Krakouer is a Menang Woman of the Noongar Nation, who is an activist, prominent social justice advocate and law reformer. Krakouer is Director of the National Suicide Prevention and Trauma Recovery Project (NSPTRP) and Director (Wagyl Kaip) of the South West Aboriginal Land & Sea Council.
