Adelina Patti was one of the most renowned opera singers, and the highest paid singer of her time. Born in Spain to Italian parents who emigrated to the United States of America, she made her debut at the age of sixteen, at the New York Academy of Music. In Europe, her debut was at the Royal Italian Opera in Covent Garden on May 14th, 1861. She was admired by Giuseppe Verdi, and her career as a “coloratura soprano” spanned nearly sixty years.

Penny Dreadful gathers and adapts part of the fabulous “bestiary” produced by English literature from the Victorian era. It is a story much like the 19th century Gothic novels, in which human vulnerability is exploited and manipulated by monsters, demons, witches, vampires, mystics, werewolves and mere humans consumed by despair and revenge.

Born in Liège (Belgium) in 1879, Walter started his career, very young, in an acrobatic troupe called “Les Bourbonnel”. He invested four shillings in the purchase of a black frock coat, a huge vest, extremely wide pants and a pair of military boots, the ones he used throughout his artistic life, and ended up creating a new type of clown "Auguste".
