A Resource for Medical Copays, Travel, and Treatment Costs When your elderly parent has a serious diagnosis, the medical costs can start stacking up fast. Copays. Treatment costs. Travel expenses. Insurance premiums. Diagnostic testing. And then there’s the emotional stress of trying to figure out what help is actually available while you’re already overwhelmed. *** Need Help Thinking Through Your Parent’s Situation? *** If you’re starting to step in more with your aging parent and feeling unsure what to focus on, I offer a limited number of 60-minute Parent Clarity Sessions. This is a focused session where we can talk through your situation and help you get clear on what matters most right now, so you can feel less overwhelmed and move forward with a plan. 👉Schedule A Parent Clarity Session [https://calendly.com/trinagonzalez/parent-clarity-session] In this episode of Navigating Elderly Parents, we’re talking about a resource called My Good Days, Mygooddays.org [https://mygooddays.org/]  a national nonprofit that helps people with chronic illness through financial assistance, advocacy, and education. This is not a guarantee that your parent will qualify. It is not a promise that every diagnosis is covered. But it is a resource worth checking, especially if your aging parent has a chronic illness, expensive treatment, or out-of-pocket medical costs that are becoming hard to manage. Good Days may offer help with things like: - Medical copays - Travel costs related to treatment - Insurance premium assistance - Diagnostic testing costs - Care navigation and resource support The important thing to know is that Good Days has disease funds that can open and close throughout the year. So do not assume your parent qualifies, but also do not assume there is no help. Check. That’s the next right step. In this episode, we’ll talk about what Good Days does, what types of assistance they list, what information you may need before applying, and why this kind of resource matters when you’re trying to advocate for an elderly parent without getting swallowed by the medical cost chaos. 🎧 IN THIS EPISODE ✔️ What Good Days is and why it may be worth checking ✔️ The types of assistance Good Days lists, including copays, travel, premiums, and diagnostic testing ✔️ Why fund status matters and why you need to check the current list ✔️ What information to gather before calling or applying ✔️ How this fits into advocacy and planning for elderly parents Before You Apply or Call, Gather This Information If you are helping your parent look into this resource, it may help to have: ✦ Your parent’s diagnosis ✦ Date of birth ✦ Primary insurance information ✦ Household size ✦ Estimated household income ✦ Medication or treatment information, if available Good Days disease funds can open and close throughout the year, so start by checking whether your parent’s diagnosis is listed and whether the fund is currently open.   🤝 LET'S STAY CONNECTED 📬 Sign Up To Be An Insider — short weekly tips straight to your inbox Yes, Include Me Weekly [https://subscribepage.io/G7iUGV] 👥 Join Our Free Facebook Community — Elderly Parent Planning and Safety Group Join Facebook Community [https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1MaBKa2LaG/] ⭐ Leave a Written Review on Apple Podcasts — helps other families find the podcast 📤 Share This Episode with a friend walking the same road with aging parents. 💌 Question or idea for episode? hello@trinag.com [hello@trinag.com] And remember — you are doing a good job. 22.

21.Caregiver Burnout to Rest: Our Adult Day Care Story

If you've ever wondered whether adult day care is really worth it — or even where to begin — this episode is going to answer that in the most personal way possible. I sat down with my own sister-in-law Marlene and her mom, my Abuela, to talk about the moment our family said yes to adult day care for Abuelo — and what happened next. Because the families navigating this journey don't always speak one language, and neither does the love that drives us to show up for our parents. Before adult day care, Abuela was running on empty. She was exhausted, unable to rest, unable to get anything done — because Abuelo needed someone with him around the clock. Her own health was suffering, and the people around her — family, friends, and her doctor — all started saying the same thing: it's time to get some help. What followed was a process — phone calls, a county program, a social worker, a waitlist, and eventually a facility visit that changed everything. This episode walks you through every step of how they got there. And then something unexpected happened. Abuelo — who was barely walking and barely talking — came home one day with a painting he made. Then he won bingo. Then he started telling stories about the live music on Fridays. The transformation was real, and Abuela finally got to take a nap. This is what the right resource at the right time can do for your whole family — and Abuela wants every caregiver to hear it. 20. Adult Day Care: What It Is, What It Costs, and How to Start

Is your aging parent living independently — but spending too much time alone, isolated, with nothing to do and nobody around? You are showing up, checking in, worrying — and you know it is not sustainable. In this episode, I am breaking down adult day care: what it actually is, how it works, what it costs, and why it might be the missing piece in your parent's care plan that nobody told you about. I also share a personal story — people I love, people who have been in my life for twenty-five years — my Abuelo and Abuela — and how adult day care radically changed their health and longevity. You are not going to want to miss the next two episodes: the first is their story in English, and the second is the same episode completely in Spanish. If you know someone who needs to hear this en español, that episode is for them. If you are ready to stop guessing and start planning, I would love to help you get clarity on your specific situation.
