In today's episode, we welcome back Prof. Tom Bruyer of VIVES University to talk about the rise of far-right politics in France. We'll examine whether President Emmanuel Macron can hold on to power in upcoming elections and discuss Marine Le Pen's surprising re-appearance on the French political scene. We also take a brief look at other up and coming figures on the far-right such as Zemmour. The great historical founders of world federalism; Rosika Schwimmer and Lola Maverick Lloyd were radical thinkers and activists. Together with their global supporters, a motley crew of #feminists, #pacifists, #suffragists and #antifascists, they sought to build a democratic international institution that would stand in stark opposition to old order imperialism and autocracy as well as communism and fascism alike. Their vision for a world federal government is, in itself, a very radical idea, even in our own day and age. In this episode, we uncover the ideological roots of world federalism and show how it was neither centrist nor conservative, but #progressive and unapologetically radical from the very beginning.

In this episode, we explore the different forms of political violence including terrorism and insurrection. We also examine historical fascism and begin to dissect the narratives that are shaping modern fascism today. We also place the far-right attacks against the US Capitol Building in context, by illustrating how the mainstreaming of white nationalist rhetoric in conservative politics over the past three decades has breathed new life into far-right extremist movements.
