Over Sorting It Out

“Sorting It Out” is a conversation between four hopeless millennial housemates discussing everything from societal issues to their own first world problems and domestic debarkles. The podcast is a medium for the boys to critique and give insight into eachothers lives and reflect upon their beliefs and actions in an attempt to become decent humans.Whether it be knick-knacks, paddy whacks or giving a dog a bone, these young men are definitely rolling home every friday to start the process of beer assisted self reflection again. The boys are masters in the art of constructive roasting and have a knack for spouting useless anecdotes and questionable analogies. Tune in each week for a some guaranteed laughs and something new to think about.

Episode #33 - Tiny Houses and a Mexican Restaurant

IT’S BRITNEY, BITCH! I’m sorry, let me fix that… IT’S THE ‘SORTING IT OUT PODCAST’, FRIENDS!... BITCH!No, of course we don’t condone the ‘B’ word in the derogatory sense. But we also don’t condone leaving the airwaves so empty for such a long time. So Just like Britney, the ‘Sorting It Out Podcast’ is back, betterer than everer, and kicking the content up another level and into the next gear… 7th gear. And what can you expect from the new and improved season 2? All the fun that made last season, plus more. Episode #33 finds the crew returning to get serious about cultural appropriation and ask some not so easy questions after a run in with some rainbow coloured sombreros. What cultural boundaries are we crossing in our day to day lives? Are there grey areas when it comes to ‘cultural-permission’ or are all things defined in the absolute? I’ll be honest, this one gets heated.    Now more than ever, the 'SIOP' is playing for answers, and trying to change and inform ourselves to be more considerate human beings is the name of the game.

Episode #32 - EGG BOY

If an Australian terrorist killing innocent women, men, and children at prayer isn’t a sobering enough moment; enter the goose-stepping Fraser Anning to deliver some words of… anti-wisdom? Pro white supremacism? Dip-shittery?    Though, there is some solos in knowing that for every Fraser Anning a boy with an egg isn’t far behind. So, whip out that crusty old frying pan, warm up that whisking wrist and starts’a cracking, because the ‘Sorting It Out’ Podcast is talking infamous shell slingers, and we’re not leaving without omelettes.  All egg puns aside (and believe me, they will be many) this weeks episode asks just what ‘Egg Boy’ is doing for the conversation surrounding white supremacy and anti-Muslim rhetoric? Are his exploits taking the issue to a wider audience? Will chicken period projectiles help to change perspectives in the years to come? Honestly, I really hope so.Yet, the ‘SIOP’ crew isn’t eggsaggerating by saying, “there’s no eggsact way of knowing these things”. We’re not here to eggsacerbate problems either. But, if a sentiment of fun seems a little too soon, all we can say is that we love you New Zealand. To all our Muslim brothers and sisters, we love you and we are with you. Those gone are not forgotten.

Episode #30 - Separating Content from Controversy

It’s time to break that hiatus and cover all your social media platforms, because the ‘Sorting It Out Podcast’ is live again to tackle controversial content. With recent backlash against Australian musical outfit Sticky Fingers, this weeks instalment forces a clinical discussion of law and morality.  Is it possible to separate creators from their transgressions and controversies? Are some artists overlooked or given clemency for mistakes they’ve made? If so, why? Before answering, and at the advice of our legal team, we’ve been directed to not say anything without council present. With that in mind, sitting in on episode #30 is the always and ever so brilliant Bianca, a good friend of the podcast and seasoned paralegal. The ‘SIOP’ would also like to address speculation that has risen over the past month and formally apologise. The quantity and ferocity of farting that occurred in previous recordings, from one or several of its hosts, was inappropriate and moreover, tremendously stinky. In all seriousness though, from moments of flatulence to the kind of allegations made against the likes of artists such as Chris Brown, Kevin Spacey and Michael Jackson, let’s get honest; how do we celebrate content while simultaneously valuing what is consider wrong and right? All questions aside, what’s certain is that in a world where people abuse power and position, the act of not forgetting and maintaining accountability is forever up for discussion. So, let’s talk!
