Logline
When a disastrous blind date reunites exes Haley and Luke, buried secrets, old wounds, and undeniable chemistry force them to confront the misunderstanding that destroyed their relationship — and decide if what they had is worth the risk of losing again.
Series Summary
Haley is a fiercely talented artist who has spent three years building a life without Luke — the man she walked away from before he could propose. Luke is a man who spent those same three years believing she betrayed him with his own father. When Haley's meddling brother sets them up on a blind date neither of them knew about, everything they buried comes rushing back to the surface. The banter is instant. The chemistry is undeniable. And the truth — when it finally comes out — rewrites everything. Back to December is the story of two people who broke each other, who missed each other, and who have to decide whether love is worth the terrifying risk of trying again.
Episode 1 — The Blind Date
She opened the door expecting a stranger. She got her ex-boyfriend instead. Haley and Luke come face to face for the first time in three years — thanks to a blind date engineered by her brother — and neither of them is remotely prepared. The insults come fast. So does the laughter. And despite every reason to walk away, Luke ends up inside with a glass of wine and a block of Gorgonzola. Some things never change.
Episode 2 — The Truth
Over wine and late-night honesty, Haley finally tells Luke the truth about his father. She was not cheating. She was a struggling artist behind on her rent, making a desperate deal to keep a roof over her head — pretending to be his dad's girlfriend in exchange for money, with no romance involved. Luke struggles to believe it. But the more she talks, the harder it becomes to hold onto the version of events he built his anger around. And when Haley opens up about her mother's death, something between them quietly begins to shift.
Episode 3 — The Restaurant
Luke takes Haley to dinner and pulls out all the stops — flowers, charm, and the admission that he has been celibate for three years because he already knew what love felt like and did not want it with anyone else. The evening is electric. Until Haley finds out he has been getting updates on her dating life from her sister. She walks out. Outside, she comes back — and tells him something she has never told anyone. A stalker ex. A terrifying chapter she survived alone. Luke tells her he loves her and wants her back. And Haley gets in a cab and goes home, because the thought of losing him again is more frightening than anything else she has ever faced.
Episode 4 — The Ring
Haley shows up at Luke's door with a request — pretend to be her boyfriend for one week while her grandmother visits. Luke refuses. Then he tells her why. Her grandmother gave him a nineteenth-century family heirloom ring and asked him to propose. He accepted. He had the moment planned. And then Haley ended things before he ever got the chance to say a word. Everything Haley thought she understood about their breakup changes in an instant. The episode ends with a promise, a kiss, and two people finally edging toward the same page.
Episode 5 — The Sabotage
Haley sits down with Mike Turner — the most celebrated art dealer in the country and her one real shot at breaking through — and the meeting is going beautifully. Then Luke walks in. Convinced she is on a date, he insults Mike, derails everything, and destroys ten years of Haley's hard work in under five minutes. His attempts to fix it only make things worse. Haley ends the relationship. Luke kisses her goodbye. She kisses him back — and then slaps him and walks out the door. Her final text: I am sorry I ever got involved with you.
Episode 6 — The Return
Months later, Haley is a celebrated artist. Sold-out exhibitions. Work at Christie's. Her face all over the media. Everything she ever dreamed of — and a hollow feeling she cannot shake. When Luke walks into her gallery opening having flown back from London, the banter is immediate and so is everything else. She punches him by accident. She patches him up. She tells him she loves him. He almost gets on a bus anyway. She stops him. They reconcile at a bus stop in the early morning — and get married the very next day.
