Ed Van Buskirk, founder of IfYouLoveMe.com, joins Deacon Mark Campbell for week eight of the Ten Commandments series with a rich exploration of the Seventh Commandment: You Shall Not Steal. Ed opens by reframing the commandment entirely — rather than simply a rule against taking, it is an invitation into the greatness of generosity. When we look past what we shouldn't do and ask what we should do, this commandment calls us into joyful friendship and self-giving love. Key insights from the conversation: * Stealing intangibles — reputation, credit, a compliment withheld — can be more damaging than taking physical possessions * Covetousness and theft are rooted in a lack of trust in God's providence * Violating this commandment damages not only our relationship with others but our relationship with God * Generosity is the positive fulfillment of this commandment — and the antidote to covetousness * True harmony in society flows from trust, which is built through generous living Ed draws a powerful connection between the Seventh Commandment and the two greatest commandments — love of God and love of neighbor — showing how every act of theft, large or small, is a failure of both. 📖 Learn more and find resources for families and individuals: * GodsRecipe.org [http://godsrecipe.org/?utm_source=Iowa%20Catholic%20Radio&utm_medium=Podcast&utm_campaign=The%20Catholic%20Morning%20Show] #TenCommandments #SeventhCommandment #YouShallNotSteal #CatholicMorningShow #IowaCatholicRadio #CatholicPodcast #EdVanBuskirk #IfYouLoveMe #GodsRecipe #CatholicFaith #Generosity #CatholicFormation #MoralTheology #CatholicFamily #Evangelization Credits: Produced, Edited, and Mixed by Ayden Pugh, Alexia Baker, and Brady Grimm.   LINKS You can follow us on Facebook, [https://www.facebook.com/iowacatholicradio] Instagram [https://www.instagram.com/iacatholicradio/], and Youtube [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQ_w8fZ51egdFCWFGRSB4xA]! All six were Knights of Columbus. Monica Meredith, Hispanic Ministry Director at Sacred Heart Parish, and Antonio Banuelos, Knight of Columbus, joined the show to discuss the significance of the relics and what listeners can expect at the veneration events. Relic Schedule: * Tonight, June 17 — Saint Patrick Parish, Perry | 5:00 PM Mass | 6:30 PM Presentation * Friday, June 19 — Sacred Heart Parish, West Des Moines | 7:00 PM Mass & Adoration | 8:00 PM Relic Presentation | 8:30 PM Social * Saturday, June 20 — Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Des Moines | 8:00 AM Mass | 9:00 AM Presentation * Saturday, June 20 — Our Lady of the Americas, Des Moines | 4:00 PM Mass (English) | 5:00 PM Presentation | 6:30 PM Mass (Spanish) | 7:30 PM Presentation At the veneration, a kneeler is provided before the relics. Author and speaker Emily Jaminet joined the show to explain what the consecration means spiritually and how Catholics can keep the momentum alive. Practical next steps the U.S. bishops have called Catholics to take: * 250 hours of Eucharistic Adoration * 250 hours of Works of Mercy * First Friday Devotion — Receive Holy Communion on the first Friday of nine consecutive months, rooted in the 12 promises of the Sacred Heart to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque * Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in the home — visit WelcomeHisHeart.com [https://WelcomeHisHeart.com?utm_source=Iowa%20Catholic%20Radio&utm_medium=Podcast&utm_campaign=The%20Catholic%20Morning%20Show] Learn more about Emily Jaminet and her books and speaking at IowaCatholicRadio.com [https://www.IowaCatholicRadio.com?utm_source=Iowa%20Catholic%20Radio&utm_medium=Podcast&utm_campaign=The%20Catholic%20Morning%20Show] Gospel Reflection — Fr. Nick Smith Fr. Nick Smith, pastor of Saint Patrick's in Perry, reflects on Matthew 6 — the call to pray, fast, and give alms in secret, trusting in the Father who sees what is hidden. Sunday Dive Preview — Katie Patrizio Katie Patrizio previewed her upcoming episode of Sunday Dive, airing immediately following The Catholic Morning Show. The episode explores fear as a passion (per Aquinas), how Jesus reorders our understanding of good and evil in Matthew 10, and why eternal life must be valued above mortal life. After the Consecration — What Catholics Do Next with the Sacred Heart – Emily Jaminet - 06/17/2026

What Happened on June 11, 2026 At the U.S. bishops' spring plenary assembly in Orlando, Florida, over 270 bishops prayed a formal act of consecration, entrusting the United States — its people, wounds, and future — to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This coincided with the feast of the Sacred Heart and the nation's 250th anniversary. The full prayer remains available on the USCCB website. Historical Context — Why the Sacred Heart? Jesus appeared to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque in 17th-century France, revealing his heart and lamenting indifference and ingratitude from humanity. He offered 12 promises to those devoted to his Sacred Heart and asked for a great feast in his honor. Emily noted that the consecration is not a nostalgic gesture but a forward-looking act of faith over fear, inviting new graces for a new era. What the U.S. Bishops Are Asking Catholics to Do * 250 hours of Eucharistic Adoration * 250 hours of Works of Mercy * First Friday Devotion — Receive Holy Communion on the first Friday of nine consecutive months; rooted in Jesus's promise of the grace of final repentance and a sacred refuge at the last hour * Morning Offering — Daily consecration of all actions, joys, and sorrows to the heart of Jesus * Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in the home — Welcoming Christ as King of the household; visit WelcomeHisHeart.com [https://WelcomeHisHeart.com?utm_source=Iowa%20Catholic%20Radio&utm_medium=Podcast&utm_campaign=The%20Catholic%20Morning%20Show] Emily on the Family Witness Emily shared that her mother described Sacred Heart devotion as "the cornerstone of family life" across four generations — through sickness, war, sorrow, and joy. The first promise of the Sacred Heart: "I will give them all the graces necessary for their state in life." The second promise: "I will give peace to their families." Emily emphasized that whether a listener comes from a long line of faithful Catholics or is the first generation to say "as for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord," this consecration is the invitation. Cristero War Martyrs Come to Des Moines — Relic Veneration at Sacred Heart Parish – Monica Meredith & Antonio Banuelos - 06/17/2026

Who Are the Six Martyred Priests? During Mexico's Cristero War (1926–1929), the Mexican government effectively outlawed the Catholic Church — banning public Mass, expelling clergy, and desecrating churches. Six Knights of Columbus priests refused to stop ministering and were executed for their faith. Pope John Paul II canonized 26 martyrs of the Cristero War on May 21, 2000 — six of whom were Knights of Columbus. Their final words: Viva Cristo Rey — Long live Christ the King. Relic Veneration Schedule — Diocese of Des Moines * Tonight, June 17 — Saint Patrick Parish, Perry | 5:00 PM Mass | 6:30 PM Presentation * Friday, June 19 — Sacred Heart Parish, West Des Moines | 7:00 PM Mass & Adoration | 8:00 PM Relic Presentation | 8:30 PM Social * Saturday, June 20 — Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Des Moines | 8:00 AM Mass | 9:00 AM Presentation * Saturday, June 20 — Our Lady of the Americas, Des Moines | 4:00 PM Mass (English) | 5:00 PM Presentation | 6:30 PM Mass (Spanish) | 7:30 PM Presentation What to Expect at a Relic Veneration These are first-class relics — bone fragments of the martyred saints. A kneeler is placed before the relics. Visitors may kneel, pray briefly, and touch a rosary or devotional object to the relics, creating a third-class relic. Prayer cards will be available on-site. Visitors are encouraged to pray the rosary in the pew before approaching rather than at the kneeler itself. Why This Matters for Catholics Today Antonio Banuelos emphasized that the persecution in Mexico didn't happen overnight — it built gradually through decades of constitutional and legal changes that people assumed would never be enforced. The martyrs' witness is a direct call to defend religious liberty and live the faith publicly and courageously. Monica Meredith highlighted that this pilgrimage is for all Catholics — not only the Hispanic community — and that encountering saints who lived just one hundred years ago is a powerful reminder that holiness is possible in every era. Building a Eucharistic Marriage: Strengthen Your Marriage Through the Mass — Greg Schutte

Marriage Works Ohio is a department of the Elizabeth New Life Center, a pro-life pregnancy center with over 36 years of history. Under Greg Schutte's leadership for the past 20 years, Marriage Works serves couples and youth through three primary avenues: * Youth Education — School-based programs in high schools and middle schools covering healthy relationships, saving sex for marriage, and understanding God's design for the human person * Marriage Therapy & Classes — Licensed marriage therapy and structured courses for couples at any stage — engaged, newlywed, or long-married * National Programs — Resources available for purchase and use by couples and parishes nationwide Building a Eucharistic Marriage — The Video Series: Originally developed from a longer 12-session program, Building a Eucharistic Marriage distills the core into seven sessions that walk couples through a therapeutic model for change — paralleled with their relationship with Christ in and through the Mass. The central insight: just as we are called to feed one another as Christ feeds us in the Eucharist, spouses are called to be each other's helpmate and nourishment. Sessions cover: 1.
