Today on The Morning Show Podcast we began with a look at the massive storm that rolled through the London region Tuesday night and the confirmed tornado southeast of the city, along with discussion about whether this could become a particularly active tornado season in southwestern Ontario. We then spoke with economist Jim Stanford about his new report warning Canadians could face billions in higher costs tied to rising oil prices caused by conflict in the Persian Gulf. Later in the show, we discussed the arrival of generic versions of Ozempic in Canadian pharmacies and what cheaper alternatives could mean for patients using the drug for diabetes or weight loss. The weekly panel with Matt Brown and Nathan Caranci focused on ways London can better support business districts across the city and whether spending one billion dollars to host the World Cup is worth it for Canadian governments. We wrapped up with a conversation about Google changing its search box and user experience for the first time in 25 years.

Canada enters its final World Cup group-stage match against Switzerland with a chance to reach the knockout round for the first time while staying on home soil. We then speak with LEDC CEO Kapil Lakhotia about Aeon Cabinetry's $20-million manufacturing investment and the continued growth of London's Innovation Park. Next, we look at how an off-duty London paramedic is being recognized for her actions during the Sherwood Forest Mall crash that injured seven people. Ryan Mallough of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business joins the show to discuss concerns that higher fuel prices could hurt tourism and small businesses this summer. We also speak with lawyer Erik De Lorenzi about his report arguing Canada Post's challenges go beyond declining mail volumes and rising costs. Finally, Day 18 of the 980 CFPL Bicentennial Battle sees listeners decide whether John Labatt or Dr. Earl Plunkett will advance to face Frederick Banting in the championship round.
