In this episode I sit down with Blair Beattie from Farmer’s Footprint Australia for a really grounded conversation around regeneration, farming, glyphosate, mindset, and the deeper human side of land stewardship. We touch on the movement behind Farmer’s Footprint and the role it plays in telling a more honest and hopeful story around Australian agriculture — not just focusing on farming practices, but the people behind them, their stories, their challenges, and the potential for real change. We also speak about the podcast, *The Invisible Ingredient*, and the conversations he’s been having around glyphosate — where it sits in our food system, our landscapes, our health, and the bigger questions we probably need to be asking as a society. One of the parts I really enjoyed was getting into the retreats Blair has been helping run for farmers. Not just from a “here’s how to farm better” angle, but more so looking at who we are as people, what we’re carrying, how we relate to ourselves, and how that then reflects out into the land, the farm, the family, the business, and the wider community. Because so much of regeneration can get spoken about through the lens of soil, plants, carbon, water and biodiversity (which is all important) but there’s also this deeper layer around the human being making the decisions. The mindset shift. The connection. The willingness to slow down, reflect, and actually look at what’s driving the way we manage land. This was a really thoughtful conversation and one that weaves between farming, food systems, glyphosate, personal growth, community, and the deeper essence of what it means to live and work in relationship with the land. aflevering #78 - Why Healthy Plants Don’t Need Saving | John Kempf artwork

#78 - Why Healthy Plants Don’t Need Saving | John Kempf

In this episode, I sit down with John Kempf, one of the leading voices in regenerative agriculture, to explore one of the biggest mindset shifts in growing food: what if pest and disease pressure is not the problem itself, but a signal that the plant is missing something? We talk about how many common pest issues can often be improved... and sometimes completely turned around... through simple nutritional applications, better mineral balance, healthier soil biology, and a deeper understanding of what plants actually need to become resilient. Instead of seeing insects, disease, and crop problems as enemies to fight, this conversation looks at them as feedback from the system. John shares a powerful perspective on plant health, regenerative agriculture, soil function, nutrition, and why the future of farming may be less about constant intervention and more about growing plants strong enough that they do not need saving in the first place. This one is for gardeners, farmers, soil nerds, and anyone interested in the deeper intelligence of natural systems. Also, for anyone wondering why John’s video is not shown in this episode — John chooses to remain private and does not appear on camera, so his side of the conversation is audio-only - it only adds to the allure! #77 - The Regenerative Journey | Charlie Arnott

Charlie Arnott is an eighth-generation Australian farmer, educator, podcaster and one of the best-known voices in Australia’s regenerative agriculture space. In this episode, we get into Charlie’s journey from conventional, high-input farming into a more biodynamic, holistic and regenerative way of working with the land. But this chat isn’t just about farming. It’s about changing the way we see nature, food, soil, animals, family legacy and ourselves. We talk about what it actually takes to shift old systems, how farming can become less about control and more about relationship, and why healthy soil sits underneath so much of the bigger conversation around food, health and the future. A really grounded, honest and thought-provoking conversation with someone who has lived the transition, not just talked about it. #76 - Deep Ecology & Ecological Identity | John Seed

In this episode, I sit down with John Seed. A rainforest activist, deep ecology teacher, and one of Australia’s most important voices in helping people remember their place inside the living world. We explore deep ecology not just as an idea, but as a shift in identity. Not “humans over here and nature over there”, but humans as one expression of the Earth, woven into the same living web as forests, fungi, rivers, animals, soil and everything else. John shares from decades of rainforest activism, the birth of the Council of All Beings, and the deeper question sitting underneath so much of ecological work: how do we move from simply caring about nature, to actually feeling ourselves as part of it? A beautiful, deep, and grounding conversation for anyone who feels that gardening, soil, forests and ecology are really pointing us back to something much bigger. #75 - Holistic Management For Better Farmers | Brian Wehlburg

In this episode I sit down with Brian Wehlburg, one of Australia’s leading Holistic Management educators and the director of Inside Outside Management. Brian has spent decades working with farmers, graziers, landholders and communities across Australia and New Zealand, helping people make better decisions for their land, their animals, their businesses and their families. He’s a certified Holistic Management educator with Holistic Management International, a certified Master Field Professional with the Savory Institute, and brings a deep lived experience from farming in both Zimbabwe and Australia. This conversation is about far more than grazing. We get into what it actually means to manage land holistically, how decision-making shapes the future of a farm, why soil health and people health are so connected, and how regenerative agriculture becomes much more powerful when it includes the human beings making the decisions. A beautiful conversation about land, life, responsibility, regeneration and learning to work with nature instead of against it.
