Kat Moody is a reformed museum professional who works in public libraries and has been adventuring around the GLAMR sector since the nineties. In the United Kingdom, Kat worked in the libraries and / or archives of various military museums and in New Zealand, after various adventures, is now based with Christchurch City Libraries. In this episode we discussed: * Tūranga [https://my.christchurchcitylibraries.com/turanga/turanga-about-the-building/] – Christchurch Central Library. * Caring for the communities following the Canterbury earthquakes: How the GLAM sector responded [https://lianza.org.nz/katherine-moody-caring-communities-following-canterbury-earthquakes-how-glam-sector-responded]. * FingerTip Library [http://christchurchcitylibraries.com/About/NetworkServices/FingerTip/] at Christchurch City Libraries. * National Digital Forum [http://www.ndf.org.nz/]. * Canterbury 100 [http://www.canterbury100.org.nz/]. * Reflections on the commemoration of World War One conference [http://www.canterbury100.org.nz/conference-reflections-commemoration-world-war-one]. * #KnitWithTurbittNDuck [https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=default&q=%23KnitWithTurbittNDuck&src=typd] * “Empty” [https://librarywhisperers.space/home/2017/11/24/empty] – by Kat Moody for Library Whisperers. * Follow Kat’s crochet porgs on Instagram – @porgsofrangiora [https://www.instagram.com/porgsofrangiora/] * Wartime Knitting Revived [https://www.airforcemuseum.co.nz/blog/wartime-knitting-revived/]. * “A Bit of a Stink” [https://my.christchurchcitylibraries.com/blogs/post/a-bit-of-a-stink/] – Kat Moody for Christchurch City Libraries. Kat’s suggestion for our listeners: Do: something you enjoy at work, or go outside for a nice walk at lunch time, take some time to think or reflect, or have a play on Trove or Papers Past and find a random story about library toilets! Turbitt & Duck travelled to Coffs Harbour in November to record live interviews with delegates and keynotes at SWITCH 2018. SWITCH is the NSW Public Libraries Association’s annual conference with delegates from all over NSW in attendance. There’s a focus on building partnerships with local councils, advocacy, library new builds and renovations and library funding. Take a look at #SWITCH2018 [https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=default&q=%23SWITCH2018&src=typd] on Twitter to see the wide ranging issues and work being done in NSW public libraries. We spoke to Councillor Dallas Tout from the NSWPLA Executive Committee, Paula Kelly Paull from Hobsons Bay City Council, Gavin Carnegie from Local Government Professionals Australia NSW, Theresa Jude from Lachlan Shire Library Services and Robert Knight, Executive Director, Riverina Regional Library. In this episode we discussed: * NSWPLA [https://nswpla.org.au/] and what they do. * Condobolin Library renovation [https://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/public-library-services/blogs/state-librarian-goes-west]. * The Geography of Yes [http://www.libraries.vic.gov.au/downloads/Margery_C_Ramsay_and_Barrett_Reid_Scholarship_Reports/20130822_final_report_leonee_derr_geographyofyes_barrettreidscholarship.pdf] – Leonee Ariel Derr * Renew Our Libraries [https://renewourlibraries.com.au/] – if you live in NSW, please take the time to contact your local MP and ask them for more funding for NSW public libraries! And here’s homework from Gavin Carnegie! > Gavin suggests saying yes to everything is not the answer to creating opportunities. It’s about being selective and choosing projects, activities, roles that pique your existing interests. @UrzilaCarlson [https://twitter.com/UrzilaCarlson?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw]’s TED talk is his inspiration for this. https://t.co/VBAmfmNYG2 [https://t.co/VBAmfmNYG2] #SWITCH2018 [https://twitter.com/hashtag/SWITCH2018?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw] — Turbitt & Duck 🐟 [https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11/72x72/1f41f.png]🦆 [https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11/72x72/1f986.png] (@TurbittNDuck) November 29, 2018 [https://twitter.com/TurbittNDuck/status/1067953262047911937?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw] This episode is sponsored byPINEAPPLE GLAM [https://pineappleglam.com/].
