Welcome back to the journey. Today’s reading takes us to the closing chapters of 1 Chronicles, where David prepares for something, he will never personally see completed—the temple of the Lord. We watch him organize gatekeepers, assign responsibilities, and gather resources, all while knowing that Solomon will carry the vision forward. There’s something powerful here: David doesn’t step back because it’s not “his moment.” Instead, he pours out his best for the next generation. In chapter 29, his prayer reminds us that everything we give—our time, our gifts, our resources—comes from God in the first place. It’s all His. Then we turn to Psalm 127, which reframes everything: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” It’s a reminder that success isn’t just about effort or planning—it’s about dependence on God. Whether we’re building a family, a legacy, a ministry, or simply our day-to-day lives, the foundation matters more than the activity. So today, ask yourself: What am I building—and am I inviting God into it? Let’s dive in.

Day 155: Proverbs 4-6

Welcome to Day 155 of our walk through Scripture. Today we’re resting in Proverbs 4 through 6, a powerful collection of wisdom that calls us to guard our hearts, stay on the path of righteousness, and live with intention. These chapters remind us that what we allow into our hearts shapes the direction of our lives, urging us to pursue wisdom, avoid destructive choices, and remain faithful in our relationships. We’re cautioned against shortcuts and temptations that may look appealing but ultimately lead to harm, while also being encouraged to live with diligence, integrity, and discipline. As you listen today, reflect on the kind of path you’re walking and the condition of your heart—because the choices you make today are shaping the life you’ll live tomorrow.

Day 153: Song of Solomon

Welcome back to Walk Through History. Today is Day 153, and our journey brings us to one of the most unique and beautifully poetic books of the Bible—the Song of Solomon. Every time I come to this book, it brings back a memory that always makes me smile. Years ago, I worked with a ministry where we would begin each day by reading Scripture together for the first 15 minutes. We read through almost every book… except Song of Solomon. There was this sweet older man—kind, faithful, and full of love for the Lord—who simply didn’t feel comfortable reading this “spicier” book of the Bible out loud in a group with young women. And so, we skipped it together. He has since gone home to be with Jesus, but now whenever I read Song of Solomon, I think of him and smile—remembering both his sincerity and the way Scripture can meet us in such human, relatable moments. Today, as we read, we’re reminded that this book celebrates love—deep, passionate, covenant love—and ultimately points us to the beauty of God’s love as well. So let’s lean in, read with open hearts, and continue our walk through history together.
