Over Wilder Podcast

I'm Karsyn DuPree (a.k.a. Wildernessa): musician, lifestyle blogger, plant-lover, Nashville-dweller, intuitive enthusiast, feminist --- you get it. The idea behind the Wilder Podcast is to create a space for Women, Wellness, and Weirdos. From body image, food, and exercise, to spirituality, feminism, business, and maybe even global issues, Wilder is a place to listen to other women's stories, struggles, and accomplishments to share with other women that their not alone. Maybe this blogger, this musician, this author, this designer, whoever it is that I'm speaking with, has a journey that parallels with someone listening. Maybe they've worked hard to achieve their goals, and maybe they never thought they could. With the Wilder Podcast, we'll explore so many different perspectives, always coming full circle to suck out all the inspiration we can find from our female superhero guests!

Episode #30 | Personal Update + MY Experience with Postpartum Anxiety

Hey, everyone!I know it’s been a few months since I’ve released a podcast episode, but I’ve been dealing with what I feel like is a pretty important chapter of my life and I would like to share that with you. This is a very personal update for me, but this is also the kind of stuff that I enjoy sharing and connecting with other people on. I definitely have felt self-conscious regarding my lack of episodes this year, and I’ve been sitting on my hands waiting for our studio to be set up again (we’ve moved it from one room to another), waiting for my schedule with a toddler to feel more secure so I can interview guests, etc. Essentially, I’ve come to the conclusion that not everything needs to be an absolutely perfect scenario for things to be done, and I’m in a space where sharing and getting this done period feels important for me.With all that said, I did record this episode with my iPhone headset during Phoenix’s nap last week, so you will hear a sound machine in the background and I believe a train going by at some point. Nothing groundbreaking in this episode, just trying to share my personal experience with overwhelm, postpartum anxiety and my first experience with depressive tendencies and thought patterns. Also, want to note that I’m doing really really good as of a couple of weeks ago, and I feel like I’m in a good place to share and hold space for you if maybe this is something you suspect you’re going through. Counseling is on the horizon for me, I’m just kind of doing the insurance dance and making sure I find someone that works for me. I’m not a doctor, but I think it’s safe to say that if you’re struggling and are in a position to get counseling — do it! I went to counseling for a few years and it was so so helpful for me. I would like to get into the habit of sharing more on my podcast and starting up interviews again. I’ll most likely be doing more solo episodes in the meantime so feel free to send me episode topics! Please remember to subscribe and review the podcast if you like it! ****Lastly, I know this may seem extreme but I want to make it clear that if you feel suicidal or like your depression is consuming you’re life, feel free to call 1-800-273-8255 to talk to someone for free.***

Episode #29 | Creating The Birth Hour Podcast + A Bit About Bryn Huntpalmer

Hey, guys! So happy to share this special episode with Bryn Huntpalmer, the mama and podcast host behind The Birth Hour. I first found her podcast through the doula hosting my birthing class who recommended my husband and I both listen to a few births from start to finish. From the very beginning, I fell in love. She holds space for women to share their own birth journeys freely and without judgement. It's a safe space to celebrate everyone's individual stories of love, loss, or trauma for others to relate to.  Um, it's pure magic. You also DO NOT have to be a parent to appreciate these episodes or learn something. Personally, I still listen to these episodes every week! We also chat about one of Bryn's other passions: essential oils. If your skeptical about them, I invite you to take a listen and maybe give Bryn's essential oil account a follow because I've learned so much!

Episode #28 | Getting to Know My MOM Vicki Rowe

It's finally here! My most famous guest. MY MOM. This was such fun episode for me to record, and it was actually my very first in person podcast interview, so you'll hear us sharing a mic (heads up). We chat about my mom's life and her philosophies for feeling fulfilled and being present.  No but for real, she is definitely one of my favorite people on this planet and, well, she gave me life. Literally. Being a mama myself really makes my mom even more special these days. Let me know what you think of these types of episodes! My mom is already planning on our second time around. I'm actually fairly certain she's gonna come at me about how much I edited out, but honestly, I kept all the juicy details of her life, including me finding out my grandma's middle name! WTF HOW DID I NOT KNOW?!

Episode #27 | Creativity, Fashion, Food and Embodying Your Culture with Ayesha Erkin

In this episode, Ayesha clears up some common misconceptions surrounding the Muslim community and touches on what it was like growing up in east Texas (spoiler alert, our high school was named Robert E Lee *rolls eyes*). Anyway, we also touch on the lack of representation when it comes to Muslim women in fashion and media and how it affected Ayesha growing up. Truthfully, it affects all of us! Imagine if we saw more women in hijabs on our favorite show or in advertisements for our favorite brands.  WARNING: I do updates until 10:58 so if you must, skip ahead. Teehee!
