Beskrivelse

Queensland police have charged almost 50 people and seized drugs, weapons and cash in a major cocaine trafficking operation targeting Brisbane's entertainment precincts. The four-weekend operation across Fortitude Valley and James Street resulted in more than 90 separate offences, with police discovering tens of thousands of dollars worth of cocaine, $40,000 in cash, and drugs concealed in fake soft drink cans. Body-worn camera footage captured arrests showing clip-seal bags prepared for sale and large quantities of cash stored in locked containers. Aussie households set energy-saving house rules

Two in five Australian households, approximately 8.1 million people, have implemented house rules to manage soaring energy costs, with a further 20 per cent planning to do so as winter approaches. Common strategies include switching off lights when leaving rooms, reducing heating and cooling times, taking shorter hot showers, and turning off appliances at the power point rather than leaving them on standby. Simple changes like using electric blankets at four cents per hour instead of gas heaters at up to three dollars per hour can save households hundreds of dollars annually, with energy price changes scheduled for 1 July potentially increasing costs further.
