Beskrivelse

I know you’re up against the wall economically, but if you can sponsor me, it will help me continue to fight for a better world. Thanks for all you do! Thanks for your support: 30% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/b66e5c2e] 💙 40% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/01f1b0e8] 💙 50% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/0d3e6643] 💙 60% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/6a8f4788] I was groomed to be a narcissist. That is, I was the victim of narcissistic abuse. It’s the same thing. Narcissists groom you to be just like them. They don’t do it directly, the toxic mind virus of narcissism is passed on in the response mechanisms you’re forced to develop just to survive. You learn to hide things so that your tormentor can’t exploit your vulnerabilities. With time, you begin to regard him as cognitively impaired. Then you view everyone that way, then you become a narcissist yourself. Abusers always get carried away by their own cleverness. They think they’re the smartest people in the room. After a while, I think they start to let their transgressions slip because, on some level, they want to be caught. I think this is what Michelle Obama was referring to when she said, “They’re not that smart.” My father always preferred to talk things out while he was driving. In that way, he could be in control of our reality even if he wasn’t in control of the conversation. He helped me develop my familiarity with all the rhetorical tricks that narcissists use to deflect their marks from perceiving the truth. He tried to make his arguments with volume, body posturing, derision, and threats. First he gave warning laughs. If you persisted, he showed rage. Everything he said and did was designed to trigger the trauma bond we all feel after having gone through a period where we weren’t regarded as people. The United States doesn’t see children as people. Narcissists use the agony of that era as a lever for control throughout the term of our natural lives. But narcissists can be unmade. I’ve seen them unravel and it’s sad and terrifying and comical and pathetic. The weaker they feel, the more they try to project strength. Above all else, they want you to back down because they are terrified at the prospect of exposing their fundamental failure. Do not be confused and assume that a narcissist cannot feel shame. The opposite is true. Shame is all they feel. They’re filled with self-loathing and a terrible understanding that they’re completely without value. Every component of their personality has been carefully crafted to disguise their shortcomings. They know how to divert attention. Don’t let them. The way to unravel a narcissist is through exposure. My father always felt confident that he could get me to “see reason” if given enough time. In reality, he never intended to have an honest conversation. He only wanted to bludgeon me with his power and his cruel tactics. Thanks for your support: 30% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/b66e5c2e] 💙 40% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/01f1b0e8] 💙 50% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/0d3e6643] 💙 60% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/6a8f4788] Many of us shy away when a narcissist becomes enraged. It’s the same impulse that makes us reluctant to hang up the phone on a telemarketer. We don’t want to appear rude ourselves. Bad faith actors leverage our essential decency. They view it as weakness, and they try to use our better natures to shame us. The first rule of dealing with a narcissist is to dismantle their assertion that they have the right to be angry. Remind yourself that we are allowed to ask questions. If something doesn’t make sense, we shouldn’t defer to the narcissist’s rage. Their anger is not a validation of their opinion. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. I remember making the observation to my father that all the people in his family had gotten divorced. I remember the way his muscles tightened and his hands clenched the steering wheel. “No,” he growled, his voice trailing off and his pitch rising higher in order to make the single syllable stretch for an unnatural duration. “Drama circles the drain,” I said. “What’s that supposed to mean?” “It means that the people at the center of conflict are often the cause of the conflict,” I replied. I wouldn’t have said this on the highway, but we had just pulled into the driveway and he had no other option than to park. I’ve been seeing more and more evidence of this assertion in recent times. It applies not just to family, but also to politics and the media. I’m seeing people bicker with each other. I see them throw desperate accusations in an effort to maintain their grasp on relevancy. Often these are millionaires and celebrities and people with power. But I’ve seen this dance before and it’s pathetic. They’re so desperate for significance that they look like the groveling, entitled, spoiled children who are always free to inflict pain and who are never held accountable. Our whole world is made up of people like this. They get the promotions, they get the book deals, they have a hundred million followers, and none of them have earned any of it. None of them have a scrap of talent. They’ve been exposed. I feel as if our whole society is in narcissist overload. Everybody has awakened. We’re sick of AI slop, and we’d like to hear a real story written by a real human being. The narcissists have noticed the slack growing in the chain that holds their power and they’re starting to panic. They do what narcissists always do. They rage. They scream. They holler. They stand with their arms out to make themselves look big. They hurl insults and threats. We’re supposed to recoil and let them have their way. Then we’re all supposed to go back “to the way it used to be.” That’s another one of the horrific lines they always say. “Remember the good times.” “You mean the times that you weren’t hitting me, yeah, those were great.” But here’s the thing that most Americans do not yet know. There is one more stage. Once the narcissist comes to realize that the rage no longer plays, they’ll pivot to pity. Every human emotion is a means to an end and they can mimic them like a chameleon. Kindness, dismissal, anger, threats, violence, sadness, pleading, and then suddenly silence. They’ll try to run away. They’ll leave you behind. Once you’ve seen through the veil they’ll want noting to do with you. You’ll be a reminder of their lie, so they’ll run away and lob bombs at you from afar. We’re told not to air our family laundry. This is another cultural expectation that the narcissists made. They’ve made all our laws, and they never once intended for any of the rules to apply to them. They cultivate every rule so that they win no matter how the game is played. Even as they scream at you for telling your truth, they’ll be whispering lies about you to anyone who comes near. Make no mistake, narcissists are dangerous creatures, especially when they’re cornered. But always remember that there is no protection in compliance. There is also no option for compromise. They’re like the scorpion that can’t help but sting you even if you agree to transport it across the river. Betrayal and deception is their nature. The thing they hate most of all is discovery. They deflect the conversation from the receipts because their real conflict is with reality. They call forth a tempest rather than answer a simple question. It must be exhausting. They’ll rage themselves until they fall still, unconscious, and when they’ve recovered enough to rouse themselves again, they’ll get right back to raging. In these challenging times, it’s our duty to learn the lesson. Before humanity can escape this era of conflict and division, we’ll have to finally understand that it’s not our duty to appease them. Narcissists must be opposed. Full stop. They don’t deserve any compromise or credit. They are bad faith actors. They do not respect boundaries. They will not honor the terms of any agreement. They must be unraveled. You’ll watch them explode like a tightly wound ball that has been compressed beyond the tolerances of all physical laws. There comes a moment of inversion. We are on the precipice of that moment now. Too much truth has already been revealed. You can’t put the genie back into the bottle. The way it goes with narcissists is that they are the last to recognize the truth everyone else knows. They think us fools. They rage until the grave and once they’re gone they’re forgotten. Soon. episode Meet Missouri Congressional Candidate Tommy Holstein cover

Meet Missouri Congressional Candidate Tommy Holstein

It was my pleasure to sit down with Tommy Holstein [https://substack.com/profile/515493603-tommy-holstein] and my good friend A. Eevie Bateman [https://substack.com/profile/443649430-a-eevie-bateman]. I found Tommy to be thoughtful and willing to listen to our concerns about the future of our country. It struck me how he would often pause and consider how to answer before speaking. That’s good because it means he was not deferring to predetermined talking points. The more I do interviews with the new generation of candidates, the more hopeful I become. We have people of integrity who are fed up with the way our government has been mistreating us. They are getting out into the community and making their perspective known. It’s glorious. If you want to learn more about Tommy or support his campaign, you can find his webpage here: Tommy Holstein for Congress [https://www.holsteinformo.org/] Also, subscribe to Eevie here: Thank you LeftieProf [https://substack.com/profile/116079548-leftieprof], PJ Schuster [https://substack.com/profile/106448962-pj-schuster], Stuart Cohen [https://substack.com/profile/351205065-stuart-cohen], Cathy Stein [https://substack.com/profile/318670950-cathy-stein], Jason Gael [https://substack.com/profile/565121-jason-gael], and many others for tuning into my live video with A. episode I. Need. Your. Help! cover

I. Need. Your. Help!

If you can help out with a sponsorship, it makes all the difference. I realize everyone is up against the wall economically. But the larger this newsletter becomes, the more we can influence who wields power in this country. Anything you can offer is much appreciated: Discount tiers. Thanks for your support: 30% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/b66e5c2e] 💙 40% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/01f1b0e8] 💙 50% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/0d3e6643] 💙 60% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/6a8f4788] Even now, the American public has not fully awakened to the crisis we’re facing. The conservative members of the Supreme court have transformed the body into the court of white supremacy. They’ve gutted the voting rights act. They’ve already robbed women of their bodily autonomy. Even so, there are still politicians who insist they should be “reaching across the aisle.” At this point it should be clear that the only reason you should reach across the aisle is to put a Republican in handcuffs. A big part of the problem is that the media is little more than a propaganda mechanism. They suppress the truth. They suppress the weaknesses of the regime. They tell only lies. Even many independent creators are acting as the abusive “flying monkeys” of a malignant narcissist. Many of them do it without a full awareness of their complicity. The problem is that they’ve been programmed by a white supremacy enabling status quo. On an unconscious level, they know the limits of the pressure they can apply. They come up against these barriers and they stop. They confuse decorum for truth and they allow abusers to avoid pressure again and again. We’ll often see our big name creators interview politicians like Hakeem Jeffries. The dance is always the same. They’ll exchange pleasantries. Then, at some point, the interviewer will bring up AIPAC. They’ll bring it up as if embarrassed. They’ll give a little nod and a wink to Hakeem as if to say, “I know this is uncomfortable but my readers expect this of me.” Then Hakeem will deflect and deny and even get a little angry. The message is clear. He’s not going to answer the question, and frankly he’s disappointed that the interviewer will even ask. At no point does Hakeem say he’ll stop taking that money. Then the interview ends, and the interviewer thanks Hakeem for being there, and Hakeem smiles and says it’s always a pleasure and he’ll be happy to return any time. It’s all a song and dance. It’s all a joke. Unfortunately, the readers watch that and think, “Wow, this creator really applied some pressure! He really hates AIPAC!” But the fact is, Hakeem Jeffries doesn’t feel any pressure from that. He expressed some performance frustration, but he’s never really pushed to back down from what he feels is his entitlement as an enabler of authoritarianism. Our representatives think they’re untouchable. They think that once they’ve earned a seat of power, it’s theirs forever. That’s the problem. We have to remind them that they have their power by the consent of the governed. This idea that they would get haughty on a show when they’re asked reasonable questions is a problem. That our creators abide by the false and artificial boundaries that enable authoritarianism is also a problem. It’s time that we shook off our submissive thinking and grabbed back control of our country. The simple fact is that creators don’t apply any pressure to our Democratic representatives by tossing them a few softball questions and then enduring their performative outrage. Get this through your head: Our current crop of Democrats is never going to stop taking AIPAC money just because we ask them. We have to pressure them. Again, we don’t pressure our representatives by inviting them to interviews. We DO apply significant pressure when we platform their progressive challengers who have already declared that they will not take AIPAC money. That’s where the pressure is! The problem is that our existing media mechanism has been built to undermine the primaries. Democrats don’t want primaries because they rightfully see a legitimate political debate as a threat to their power. Thanks for your support: 30% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/b66e5c2e] 💙 40% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/01f1b0e8] 💙 50% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/0d3e6643] 💙 60% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/6a8f4788] Primaries are a performance review. Our representatives should have to sit for that just like anyone else. Any creator that wants to effectively apply pressure to our seated representatives can do so by providing a platform to their challengers. I’ve been interviewing progressive challengers for months. I know that I’ve been overwhelming the inboxes of my subscribers with these interviews. I know it’s probably frustrating to get so many emails from me. In fact, I’ve probably lost subscribers because I’m doing this. But I’m going to keep doing it. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do. The American voting public needs to be awakened to their power. I get that everyone is the focal point of economic terrorism. Things are so desperate that we don’t have time to reflect on how unfair the whole system is. Unfortunately, the big creators out there leverage that for their own gain. They’re contentedly pulling in millions of dollars a year conducting worthless, easy interviews with our representatives. Then our representatives are emboldened to go out and do absolutely nothing for us. How do we change that? We change that by elevating candidates who declare that they are willing to FIGHT! That’s the kind of pressure we need to see. I’ve already heard of it happening in some of the races I’ve been covering. Incumbents hear that their challengers are gaining steam. When that happens, the Incumbent takes the cucumber slices off his eyes, and changes from a bathrobe to a suit. Then they take to the streets to actually start talking to people. When they feel the pressure they are roused. When they feel the pressure they start to act. We need action NOW! But even if they do start to work for us, we need to vote them out anyway. The problem is that our ability to apply pressure has been muted by the fact that our large platform creators refuse to recognize the existence of primary challengers. The simple fact is that these creators are cowards. They are so desperate to maintain their access to power, that they’ve forgotten they already have the power! Thanks for your support: 30% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/b66e5c2e] 💙 40% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/01f1b0e8] 💙 50% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/0d3e6643] 💙 60% off [https://walterrhein.substack.com/6a8f4788] The media has the power to determine which candidates represent us. But I look around our media, even our independent media, and I see “journalists” who have abdicated their responsibility in exchange for ease. They have huge followings, so they don’t want to rock the boat. But what they fail to recognize is that the boat they’re floating along in is a slave ship. They’ve insulated themselves in a luxury cabin, but they’re indifferent to the suffering that’s happening all around. That makes them enablers. We need to shake off this attitude that the media should never make our representatives feel uncomfortable. By “discomfort” I don’t mean asking them one or two hard edged questions in an ocean of trivial banter. I mean actively working for candidates of integrity who are campaigning to take the do-nothing incumbent’s job! Is that aggressive? Hell yeah it is! But look around! Children are getting raped in concentration camps. It’s not our responsibility to ensure our representatives feel comfortable. I believe our representatives should feel as uncomfortable as the people they’ve betrayed. So I’m asking for everyone to shake off their apathy and be more discerning in how you consume the media. If a creator or a politician is willing to interview a right-wing extremist, but not a person of achievement, you have to recognize that the creator is just as much an enemy as the extremist views they’re normalizing. As readers, we can apply pressure! The best way to apply pressure is to withdraw your support. Tell the creators with huge platforms that if they’re going to interview Hakeem Jeffries, they should also interview his challenger Vance Bostic [https://www.vancebforny8.com/] (I’ve reached out to Vance and he hasn’t gotten back to me yet). It’s not the media’s job to determine which challengers are “serious.” If people have filed the paperwork, if they’ve gotten the signatures, then they deserve the same media attention as the incumbents. We have to stop allowing our media to put their finger on the scales and deprive the American people of their voting power. Currently we allow our creators to sleepwalk through their performative activism. They do a few “fire and brimstone” clips that don’t accomplish anything. Do you want to accomplish something? Then use the primaries to replace this generation of do-nothing Democrats with a new generation of fighters. We need people with new ideas, not dinosaurs who have grown complacent because they’ve been in office since before the 8-track was invented. I have a great group of collaborators that’s working hard to elevate primary challengers. Friends, this is working! Some of the sitting incumbents are feeling the pressure. Unfortunately, we’re short on time and my platform isn’t large enough to land the knock-out blow we need. Please go out and recruit. Get more people on this newsletter. Spread the word. Most importantly, share each individual interview I’ve collected here [https://walterrhein.substack.com/p/check-out-this-list-of-amazing-political]. If you have the means to sponsor me, that also helps to keep my work from being suppressed. There are a lot of creators out there who claim they are against politicians taking AIPAC money. However, if those creators aren’t actively working to promote primary challengers, then those creators are just going through the motions of performative activism. Creators with large platforms actually have the power to pressure our representatives to not be corrupt. They are failing in their obligation. Go and look at the creators you support. If you withdraw your support, you can pressure them to do better.
