7News Just In
China has test-fired a nuclear-capable missile in the Pacific region, prompting condemnation from Australia which labelled the action destabilising. The missile test occurred within hours of Australia signing the Ocean of Peace Alliance, a historic mutual defence agreement with Fiji that allows both nations to provide military aid in the event of armed attack. The alliance remains open for other Pacific nations to join as part of Australia's strategy to counter China's growing regional influence.
