Groundbreakers: Diversifying the family farm

Ciara Stanley is running a beef enterprise and farm shop alongside her husband Robert in Tullow, Co. Carlow at Coppenagh House Farm. She is also an entrepreneur, running both a clothing brand and embroidery business. She spoke to Agriland about showing the realities of farming to consumers, the importance of diversification for her enterprise, and the supports that have helped her along the way. Groundbreakers: Farming in Co. Galway

In the first instalment of Agriland's 'Groundbreakers' series, we meet a Co. Galway farmer who is passionate about representing women in agriculture and tackling the issues they face. Mona O'Donoghue Concannon runs a dairy, beef and suckler farm with her husband, brother and daughter near Tuam, Co. Galway. She is chair of the Women in Agriculture Stakeholders Group, which aims to improve inclusivity and gender balance in farming. She spoke to Agriland about the barriers facing women in the sector, what changes are needed, and why she decided to become a farmer representative.
