61. Lauren O’Hanlon’s Transformational Sobriety Journey

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2295100/fan_mail/new] In this episode, Lauren shares her journey from a party lifestyle to sobriety, exploring the impact of alcohol on health and relationships. Her first encounter with alcohol happened in eighth grade when she and a friend decided to sneak a sip of alcohol. Later, her curiosity led her to try beer at a concert with friends. Lauren explains how, once she got to college, drinking became a glorified social event, and she prided herself on how much alcohol she could handle. After leaving college, Lauren found herself surrounded by drinking culture while working at local bars. During her first pregnancy, she struggled to step away from alcohol and even found herself Googling how many glasses of wine could be consumed during pregnancy. Lauren’s turning point came after a difficult day with her kids and spouse when she drove to buy two champagne splits. As she planned to save one in her closet, she thought to herself, why can’t I go thirty days sober while others can? Lauren began pursuing sobriety by exploring different resources and coaching programs. After overcoming her own struggles with alcohol, she has dedicated her time to helping others do the same. 60. Why Sober is the New Cool with Kim Bellas

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2295100/fan_mail/new] About 13 years ago, Kim's youngest son, Matthew, an avid football player, began experiencing grand mal seizures. The diagnosis of epilepsy meant he could not consume alcohol due to its interaction with his medication. As a mother, Kim felt compelled to help him navigate a world where drinking was the norm. "You don’t need alcohol to have fun," she told him while holding a glass of wine. This moment transformed her life and led to a challenge: she would stop drinking for three months to prove her point. Initially, Kim thought she would easily return to her wine after three months. Instead, as she continued her alcohol-free journey, she began to understand the societal pressures surrounding alcohol and how they affected not just her but also Matthew. "If it’s this hard for me to navigate social situations, how is he going to get through?" she realized. This understanding became the foundation for Sober is the New Cool. Kim's story is a powerful reminder that choosing to live alcohol-free can lead to a fulfilling life filled with support and understanding. The Sober is the New Cool movement continues to inspire countless individuals to embrace their sobriety and redefine what it means to have fun without alcohol.
